1Kumobaike Pond
Be enchanted by the beauty of the autumn leaves reflected on the water's surface
Kumobaike Pond is about a 5-minute bus ride or 15-minute walk from Karuizawa Station. It is located near the Roppongi roundabout, where Restaurant and cafes are dotted among the trees. It is one of Karuizawa's most popular tourist spots, bustling with tourists who come to see the trees reflected on the water's surface.
The pond is long and narrow from north to south, with colorful trees growing on both sides of the pond. The best spot to view it is near the south entrance of the pond. On a fine day, you can see the blue autumn sky and colorful autumn leaves reflected on the water's surface, creating a picturesque landscape created by nature.
There is also a promenade around the edge of the pond that can be walked in about 20 minutes, and the scenery you see while walking is truly fantastic. You will be overwhelmed by the beautiful world where the colors of the autumn leaves on the opposite bank and the autumn leaves reflected on the water surface compete with the surrounding trees.
Maples and enkianthus begin to change color around the beginning of October, and the best time to see them is usually from mid-October to early November. You can enjoy the gradation of red, yellow, and orange. If you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend going early in the morning or at dusk.

Scenic lakeside autumn foliage changes with the time of day
Lake Shiozawa is one of the most scenic spots in Karuizawa. Karuizawa Taliesin is a leisure Property that makes use of nature and is located on the lakeside and in the surrounding area, with an English-style garden, an art museum, historical buildings, Restaurant, playground equipment, and more. In the fall, it is a tourist spot that many people visit to enjoy the autumn leaves that change color into Lake Shiozawa.

3Karuizawa Kogen Church
Enjoy a peaceful time at the church amid the colorful autumn colors.
Karuizawa Kogen Church is located in the lush forest of the Karuizawa Karuizawa Hoshino Area, where the trees change their beautiful expressions with each season. The avenue in front of the church is lined with katsura trees, whose heart-shaped leaves turn yellow and give off a sweet fragrance. The maples in the forest also turn a beautiful autumn color, with their overlapping reds and yellows creating a beautiful autumn sky.
Karuizawa Kogen Church, which was formerly Hoshino Yugakudo, a place where intellectuals active during the Taisho era could gather and talk freely, regardless of religion or ideology, is also a place where we can reminisce about the spirit of those who gathered and exchanged words.
The best time to see the autumn leaves is usually from mid-October to early November. First the katsura trees turn yellow, then the maples turn orange and then deep red, creating a beautiful gradation of autumn leaves.

4Mikasa Street
A romantic path lined with yellow leaves
Mikasa Street stretches from the Old Karuizawa Rotary towards Kusatsu. It is a road leading to the "Old Mikasa Hotel" (currently closed) and is known for its beautiful 1.4km-long line of larch trees.
From mid-October to early November, the tall larch trees lining the road turn yellow all at once, making the Karuizawa-like streets even more vibrant. This is a famous tourist spot that was selected as one of the "New 100 Views of Japanese Street Trees." Bicycle rentals are also recommended.
