This is a new type of store run by "Kazunori Ikeda Individuel," a famous macaron store in Sendai. The recommended item is the store's signature "Coelacanth Monaka." The "Isigny butter" from France used has a luxurious milky taste and goes perfectly with the moderately sweet bean paste from Tokachi. In addition, Guérande salt adds an accent to the flavor.
The store, with its striking name and design, was born from the idea of "cherishing the taste of good old sweets and being loved throughout the ages," just like the coelacanth, which has remained unchanged since ancient times. A soft and fluffy Sendai specialty as a souvenir for a special someone

It was created with the image of a harvest moon floating in the sky over Miyagino, where bush clover blossoms prolifically.
It was created with the image of a harvest moon floating in the sky over Miyagino, where bush clover blossoms prolifically.

Founded in 1947 (Showa 22), this confectionery shop continues to make Sendai's famous sweets. Widely known throughout the country, "Hagino Tsuki" is a confectionery inspired by castella and cream puffs. It features a soft and fluffy castella dough with a rich and mellow cream filling, giving it a refined taste. You can enjoy a different flavor by heating it in the microwave or chilling it in the refrigerator.
This sweet was created to become a Sendai specialty, and was the first in the country to use an oxygen absorber in sweets, as the founder wanted people to be able to take home delicious sweets from Sendai without worry. This prevents oxidation and allows the sweets to last longer without the use of preservatives. In 1978 (Showa 53), Toa Domestic Airlines (now Japan Airlines) started serving "Hagino Tsuki" with tea on flights between Sendai and Fukuoka. This was one of the reasons why it spread throughout the country.

A unique sweet kamaboko that is popular among children and women

We recommend eating it with the honey maple syrup that comes with it, or with jam you have at home.
We recommend eating it with the honey maple syrup that comes with it, or with jam you have at home.

This is a long-established kamaboko specialty store founded in 1934 (Showa 9). They sell new kamaboko products that they have created themselves while preserving the traditional taste. The dorayaki-shaped "doraboko" is a sweet kamaboko that was invented by the president at the time for children who don't like fish. The soft pancake-like dough is made with minced fish meat and is sandwiched with whipped cheese cream. It has a subdued fishy flavor and just the right amount of sweetness, making it popular as a healthy dessert. Drizzling the included honey maple syrup brings out the sweetness even more.
If you visit the store, you should also check out the standard product "Sasakamaboko" and the Sendai Station store's best seller "Otofuage Kamaboko Muu." It's great as a souvenir, or as another dish to have on the dinner table, so we recommend buying some kamaboko to take home for yourself, as it's packed with the nutrients of fish.
