Edo Wonderland Nikko Edo Village: A Great Place for Kids to Have Fun Through Experience

“Edo Wonderland Nikko Edo Village” is a well-known leisure spot.
While there aren’t any amusement park-style rides, there are plenty of spots where you can enjoy active experiences. All staff members wear kimono in Edo-period attire and speak in the dialect of Edo locals. It truly feels like you’ve traveled back in time to the Edo period.

At “Jikuu,” located right by the entrance, there’s a wide selection of “Edo-era” costumes available, so you can choose the outfit of the character you want to be. Both adults and children can transform into Edo-era residents right here.
There’s a wide selection of costumes for children as well. For boys, the moment they change into the outfits of ninjas, samurai, feudal lords, or Shinsengumi members, their mood transforms instantly. Girls can also dress up as princesses, samurai daughters, or town girls—it feels just like being in the world of a period drama, and everyone will want to experience it.

Most of the roads in the Property are paved, making it easy for strollers to get around. Even if there is a bridge, a detour path is provided so that visitors can safely take their strollers around the entire Property.

Even preschoolers can enjoy the experience of painting Daruma dolls.

There are several spots where you and your child can play together.
Adults will be fascinated by the "Shuriken Dojo," where they can throw shurikens and feel like a ninja, and the "Yaba," where they can become a master archer. Even preschoolers can enjoy painting Daruma dolls. Parents and children can work together on the coloring and expressions.

The “Ninja Trick Maze,” full of surprises, is a great challenge for parents and children to tackle together. On weekends and during summer vacation, the park offers Edo-era career experience programs (for ages 5–12). It’s said that parents sometimes come to make reservations as soon as the park opens to secure spots for popular activities like ninja training, police patrol, and swordsmanship.

In the center of the Property, there is a pond with many carp swimming in it; when you feed them, which is sold for 100 yen, they gather all at once and open their big mouths to crunch and eat, making them very popular among children.
During the summer vacation, the museum also offers hands-on experiences such as indigo dyeing and knob crafting, and many people visit with their children to do free research during the summer vacation.

Nursing space is also available.

For those with infants, a nursing room and diaper-changing beds are available. The Property is also equipped with a rest area, so visitors can take a break at any time. The tables are equipped with table guards for children's safety.
Please note that there is a gravel road in front of the nursing room.

A large parking lot is available, so we recommend that you drive or take the Tobu Bus from Kinugawa hot spring.

Tobu World Square, equipped with a kids' space

“Tobu World Square,” a theme park in Kinugawa Onsen, brings together famous architectural landmarks and World Heritage sites from around the globe. Here, you can take a trip around the world with your children. Plus, you can enjoy a stroll with your dog—as long as it’s on a leash.

The photo shows the Sphinx in the Egypt Zone. Since children can get up close to it—being at the right height—they might make discoveries that adults would miss.

The entire property is fully accessible, so you can explore with peace of mind even with a stroller. Strollers are available for rent through “Babycal.” Please check the website for details.

Children are excited to see the train at their feet

This photo shows the Tobu Railway station in the Japan Zone. The train visible in the background is actually moving. Children are captivated by the realistic dioramas and the trains running in real time. The newly launched 1/25-scale “Spacia X” is also a huge hit.

There is a building inside the property called “Kids House.” It’s equipped with children’s restrooms and nursing rooms, so you can relax and enjoy your visit even with small children.

The "Kinugawa River Rafting" Experience That Kids Will Love

Kinugawa Line Rafting" can be enjoyed by both small children and adults. The boarding area is a 5-minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. The Kinugawa Line Rafting is a popular spot, where you can enjoy a boat ride down the Kinugawa River while admiring the large rocks and interestingly shaped boulders, and feel the power of the river up close.

You can feel the power of nature while splashing in the river.
The boats are also equipped with vinyl to protect you from the water, and all passengers can enjoy a sense of togetherness by covering themselves with the vinyl to protect themselves from the spray as the boatman calls out to them.

Taking in the scenery from the middle of the river

The boat's rocking and splashing, the changing scenery, and the realistic feeling of being on the river make for many memorable photo opportunities. It is recommended to use a waterproof cover for your smartphone or camera. Kinugawa is very famous for its autumn foliage, so the view from the river during this season is exceptional.
Please check in advance as weather and strong winds may cause the river to rise or fall, making it impossible to board the boat.

During the river rafting, it is recommended that you can see people crossing the Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge, wave to those who notice you, and communicate with them as you watch the rafting scenery.
