Speaking of theme parks in Nikko and Kinugawa, this is it! Introducing popular spots

There are so many theme parks in Nikko and Kinugawa that it's hard to decide which one to visit. Here we will introduce some of the most popular theme parks and leisure spots that both children and adults can enjoy.

Conquer the tricky giant maze

The Giant Maze Palladium, an amusement park with a large maze made of complicated wooden walls, is located right next to Edo Wonderland. The site area is about 10,000m2, and the maze alone is 4,000m2. It's a difficult maze that's not easy to get through, but if you can reach the goal within 25 minutes, you'll get a juice, so try it out.

Giant Maze Rules

These are the maze rules here.

1. Start by pressing the timestamp.
2. Stamp the four checkpoints provided inside the maze: "ki," "nu," "ga," and "wa."
3. Press the timestamp when you reach the goal and you're done.

The rules are simple, but clearing the maze is not that easy. There is a bridge along the way that allows you to see the whole maze, so if you try to take a shortcut, you may end up in a dead end. It takes an average of 40 to 50 minutes to complete this maze. If you can complete it in 25 minutes, that's a good result, but in the 30 years since the park opened, the best time is a mere 9 minutes. Apparently, a student took two attempts during the summer vacation to complete it.

Besides the giant maze, there is also a putt-putt golf course.

There is a putt-putt golf course next to the entrance to the maze, which is great for a bit of fun, but can also be used while waiting to reach the finish line of the maze.
This is Activity spot that not only stimulates children's sense of inquiry, but also allows adults to return to their childhood and have fun.

Transform into an Edo resident and enjoy Edo culture

A very popular spot for both adults and children.
Another popular point is that you can Experience realistic time-travel to the Edo period. Costume rentals are available, so we recommend dressing up as an Edo resident. The scenery is reminiscent of scenes seen in period dramas.
It is a space where you can spend the whole day, with five areas with Edo-like characteristics, a playhouse, a museum, and more.

Experience the Edo period from various angles

There are many places to play inside the buildings, but there are also various traps when walking around the town of Edo. If you are not careful, you may be shown a wanted poster and arrested by the authorities. If you are asked questions, the correct answer is to answer honestly. The name of the crime will change depending on your answer.
You will be released after taking a commemorative photo with this official.

There are horses walking around town, and you can Experience leading them, and in the summer, there is the "Mizukake Mikoshi Togyo" parade through the streets of Edo. It is a very popular summer event where people pour water on the mikoshi.

The most popular food is soba noodles.
Until soy sauce became common in the mid-Edo period, soba noodles were mainly served with noodle soup made from miso. The connoisseur's way of eating soba noodles is to eat them in a bamboo steamer with this noodle soup.
There are also plenty of other Dining Area offering charcoal-grilled yakitori, Japanese cuisine, oden, and more. You can bring snacks with you on the houseboat that cruises around the moat. You can enjoy a meal while taking in the views of the Edo period townscape.

A museum of craftsmanship

Within the village, there is a museum called the Edo Lifestyle and Culture Heritage Museum, which exhibits everyday items that highlight the craftsmanship handed down from the Edo period.
Among the exhibits, the "Japanese swords and nail clippers" in particular are items that represent the essence of Edo techniques. The exhibition also features masterpieces by Kyoto swordsmith Kikuichimonji, who has been in business for 700 years, who have innovated their techniques into nail clippers that are highly acclaimed overseas. Other items on display in the gallery are Edo Kiriko glass, brooms, fans, bamboo crafts, tsumami crafts, indigo dyeing, and sparklers, all of which are eye-catching displays of Japanese techniques and high design. We would like to introduce one of the message plates.

"The only thing that can't be cut with a blade is tweezers and the relationship with Guest/customer."

This is the essence of Edo.

Reliable facilities

If you need Wi-Fi, you can connect to the free Wi-Fi at Shinanoya, located next to the fire watchtower.
In addition, if you get sick, there is a first aid room, and nurses are always on standby during the summer holidays, Golden Week, etc. A system of security is in place.
If you have lost something, you can pick it up if it has arrived at Echigoya. If it has not arrived here, please inquire at the office in front of the checkpoint (entrance).
