15:30 Kakuman lacquerware
Appreciate Ryukyu lacquerware that conveys the "shima nukukuru (island spirit)"

Founded over 120 years ago, this is Okinawa's oldest Ryukyu lacquerware store. The techniques for Ryukyu lacquerware are said to have been introduced from China to the Ryukyu Kingdom in the 14th or 15th century, and it is a traditional craft that Okinawa takes pride in. Kakuman Lacquerware continues to carry on the tradition and creates works that explore the possibilities of lacquer.
Depending on the purpose, wood from Okinawa's prefectural flower, the deigo or the burdock, is used. Lacquerware is carefully finished with multiple layers of lacquer, making it a sight to behold. Decorations with Okinawan designs such as flower hats, hibiscus, and shell ginger add a gorgeous touch to the lacquerware.
Be sure to check out the jewelry brand the store also produces. The lineup of items that will elevate your outfit, such as earrings, necklaces, and bangles, showcases the new appeal of lacquer.
