This beach is one of the most beautiful in Yaeyama. The contrast between the dazzling white sand and the crystal clear blue sea is amazing, and you can see Ishigaki Island, Kohama Island, and Iriomote Island in the distance. Located on the west side of Taketomi Island, it is also famous as a great spot to see the sunset.
It is popular as the only swimming beach on Taketomi Island, as the water is shallow and there are almost no waves. Showers, changing rooms, and toilets are also available, and parasols are available for rental during the summer season. The smooth sand is pleasant to walk on barefoot. You can also enjoy just a leisurely stroll along the beach.

11:15 Kaiji Beach
Search for the "star sand" of happiness at the beach also known as "Star Sand Beach"

This beach is also known as "Star Sand Beach" because of the star-shaped sand you can see there. Star sand is actually the shells of foraminifera attached to seaweed, and if you press your palm into the sand, you can find small star-shaped grains in the sand on your hand. You can't take the sand home with you, but you can purchase key chains filled with star sand at the souvenir shop near the entrance to the beach.
Because of the strong tides, swimming is not possible at the beach, but you can spend time unique to the island by relaxing in the shade of the subtropical trees, having fun on the swings installed in the trees, or watching the boats traveling between Kaiji Beach and other islands.
