Taketomi Island, about 10 minutes by high-speed boat from Ishigaki Island in the Yaeyama Islands, is a remote island with a circumference of 9.2 km, formed by the uplift of a coral reef. The three villages, with their Ryukyu red tile roofs, coral stone walls called gukku, and white sand roads, are designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government.
HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island Island is known as the fourth settlement on the island where the original landscape of Okinawa remains.
