私の心の中には、根差している映画や文学を通しての優雅なイメージを日本に抱いていました。
今回、私はこれまで馴染みのなかった鎌倉に行きました。
この町のことがすっかり気に入りました。

Japan’s elegant image through Film and Literature root in my mind.
This time, I went to Kamakura, a place completely strange to me.
And I just fell in love with the city.

 出発前、「千羽鶴」をもう一度読み返しました。作品の舞台となったこの町に特に関心が生まれたわけではありませんでした。鎌倉はたくさんの有名な作家が気に入っている場所であるだけでなく、日本の古都、そしてスラムダンクの聖地としても貴重な場所です！

One week before departure, I red “Thousand Cranes” again.
No longer, I am generating strong interest in the city where the story happened .
Kamakura is not only a favorite city in many big writer’s mine , it is a precious ancient capital of Japan and home of Slam Dunk!

初日、鎌倉に到着したのは夕方でした。私はゲストハウス裏にある丘の斜面を散策しました。
ここにある住宅や小路は私にとっては驚くべきものです。派手さや華々しさはないのですが、至るところ、美しく優雅に飾られているのです。
ここの人は土地の隅々を、個性と美を披露するように活用しているのです。

 First day when I come to Kamakura is the evening, I walk freely on the hillside after ghesthouse.
All house and lane here makes me amazing. There are no spectacular sight,but all the corners are decorated fine and elegant.

今回の旅行では、日本に対する「優雅」というイメージが大きく変わったわけではありませんが、より鮮明に理解できました。
美の文化は、日本人の日常生活に根差しています。

People use every inch of land to show their individuality and aesthetics.
The trip did not change the opinion of Japan’s elegance ,however, make it much vivid.
Culture of beauty are rooted in the Japanese daily life.

「トンネルを抜けるとそこは雪国であった。」
何年か前にこの本を読んだとき、この文に書かれている内容はある種の想像だと思っていました。
気候というものは本来境界線がなく、徐々に変化が見えるものです。少しずつ違いが積み重なるものであると思います。
ところが新幹線で高崎から越後湯沢に行ったとき、
長いトンネルを抜けると、あたり一面が白、真っ白でした。
山はこの地をまったく違った世界に変えてしまったのです。
その魔法は小説の世界だけのことでなく、現実の世界でもあったのです。
その景色はすぐに別のトンネルに入って見えなくなってしまったのですが、目には涙が溢れていました。
私にとって、それは聖なる景色でした。

“The train came out of the long tunnel into the snow country.”
I think the sentence just some kind of imagery when I red the it several years ago.
Weather always like spectrum. It change little by little.
But when the Shinkansen took me from Takasaki to Echigo Yuzawa,
after cross the long long tunnel, all over the world is white, pure white.
The mountain truly separate the land to totally different world.
The magic not only in the novel but also in our real world.
I can feel the tears in my eyes,even though the view covered by another tunnel immediately.
It is blessed to me.

私にとってその旅は、中華圏以外で最も長期間のものでした。日本語を話せないので、とても神経質になっていました。
幸運なことに、困ったときにはいつも天使が現れて助けてくれました。
私のために鎌倉駅に行く道を示すために地図を広げてくれたおばあさん、私をゲストハウスまで連れて行ってくれた、おとなしいけれどかわいい女性の方と出会いました。旅の中でも、この人たちは一番心温まる思い出です。

This is the longest travel experience in non-Chinese nation to me.
I was actually very nervous , because I do not speak Japanese.
Luckily,every time I got problem ,there is a angel come to help me.
I met a grandma who drew a map hard to show the way to Kamakura station for me, and the girl who is shy but pretty kind lead me to my guesthouse. They are the sweetest part of the trip.

使い慣れている言葉から離れて、見知らぬ場所で初めての一人旅行をするのは難しくてできないものであるかどうか、よく分かりません。
でも親切な日本人のおかげで、コミュニケーションで最も大事なのは言語のスキルではなく、理解したいと思う気持ちだということを教わりました。
この写真は、ある見知らぬ人が撮ってくれたものです。

I am not sure is it too difficult for me to leave familiar language and travel alone in a strange place at first.
But friendly Japanese let me know that the most important condition for communication is not language skill but a heart eager to understand.

２両編成の電車で、十日町という小さな町に行きました。私を含め、５人の乗客が降りたと思います。
プラットフォームにある掲示板を見たとき、心臓が２秒止まりました！
大雪のため、列車は夕方まで停車すると赤い字で書かれていました。

The train with two compartment came to the little station which is called Tokamachi. Include me, only five passenger got off probably.
The moment When I saw the billboard in the platform , my heart must stop two seconds!
It is a line of red word say that the train is stop until the evening because huge snow.

駅員さんが私に話しかけてくれたのですが、話の内容が分からず、とても心配になっていました。
運のよいことに、ある男性が通訳してくれました。彼は私にどこに行くかを尋ね、一番大事なことを教えてくれました。代替バスがあるということです。
彼も代替バスを利用するというので、私はついて行くことができました。
交通手段がなくなるのでは、と思っていたところ、彼は私のために時刻表を確認してくれました。

A station officer tried to talk to me ,but I can not understand what he said, so I am very nervous.
Luckily, a gentleman came to translate. He asked me where am I going, and told me the most important information :there will a bus instead of the trains.
He said he will take the bus too, so I can follow him.
Afraid of I would miss the transports, he although check the time table for me.

彼の親切な手助けのおかげで私は目的地、長野にヒッチハイクすることなく到着することができました。その日は嬉しい思いでいっぱいでした。
50代くらいの、白髪のやさしいおじさん、ありがとうございました。

His help and care make me arrived my destination- Nogano without a hitch, and feel worm all day.
Thank you very much uncle Japanese with silver hairs about 50 years old.
