この度を通して、日本に対するイメージは変わりましたか？
興味深い現象！ A interesting phenomenon
日本は何回も訪れているので、今回の旅行でそのイメージが変わったとは言えません。でも今回の旅行は間違いなくそれを深く掘り下げる機会になりました。外部の人間でいるメリットは、より物事がはっきり見えることです。私の観察が正しいかどうかは自信がありませんが、それでも非常に興味深い現象に気付いたので共有します。日本には、世界にはないぐらい整骨院が多くあります。これは、日本人がこの種の問題を多く抱えており、健康に対する意識が高いという事だとおもわれました。
I couldn’t say that my image of Japan change since I’ve been here many times. But this one-man trip surly allowed me to dig further. One of the advantages of being an outsider is to see things more clear. I found an interesting phenomenon but I am not sure whether my conjecture is correct. There are many osteopathic clinics in Japan. This could indicate that Japanese has these kind of problems and care about their health a lot.

一般的に、私の日本に対する印象は、国に対するものと人に対する物の2つに分けられます。一つは、日本は重要な経済国で、その地理的位置のため、独自の文化を持っていることです。次に、日本の人は非常にマナーが良く、非常に良く思いやりにあふれた行動をとります。さらに、皆さんは非常に愛国的です。これらの全ての特性は学ぶに値します。
Generally speaking, my impression toward Japan can be divided in to two parts-the country and the people. First, Japan is an important economic league and thanks to its geographical location, it has its own culture. Secondly, people are well disciplined with good manners and kindly do the charity many times. Furthermore, they are very patriotic. These all the the characters worth learning .

都会の雑踏から離れ、どんな自分を見つけますか？ Away from bustle and hustle,what do you find of youself?
私はタワーホテルに泊まり、ずっと山と霧に囲まれた所でした。屋外の温泉を楽しんでいる時、非常に気持ちが楽になり、また自分自身に驚きました。今回の旅以外で水の中で裸になったことはありません。もし誰かと一緒だったら、絶対にこんなにゆっくりできなかったでしょう。自然の中につかり、ここで自分は世界を違う見方で見れて、なんてラッキーなのだと突如思いました。家族や星野リゾートの皆さんなど、多くの方のサポートが無ければこんな気持ちにはなれなかったでしょう。
I stay in the Tower hotel, where mountains and fog surround the building all day long.When I was enjoying the outdoor hot spa, I felt so relieving and surprised about myself. I would never be naked in the water without this trip. If I were with someone, I would definitely never slow down my pace. Deeply sinked in the nature, I suddenly find how lucky I am to be here and to see the world in a different way. Without the support of so many people, including my family and Hoshino resorts, I wouldn’t accomplish all these.

礼儀の作法 The manner of politeness
日本は多くの側面、特に作法に関して非常にユニークな事情があります。もっとも「わあ！すごい日本的だ」と思ったことは、今回の旅の2日目で起こりました。公園の前でライブのバイオリン演奏を見ていた時、男の人がバイオリニストにお金をあげたのです。そしてこの後、バイオリニストとマネージャーが90度のお辞儀をして、お金をくれた男性の姿が見えなくなるまでお辞儀をしていたのです。これは非常に日本的でした！
Japan stands a unique status in many aspects especially well-known of their manners.The most “Wow!That’s so Japan”happened on the second day of my journey. When I appreciating the live violin performance in front the children playing yard, a man donated some money to the performer. This brought the violinist and his manager keep bowing in a 90 degree way until the man walked away and vanished in their view. This is so typical of Japanese!

日本の方は自国の文化に誇りを持っています。 Japanese people are are proud of their culture.
この写真は北海道の古い公文書保管所の前で撮ったものです。私が落ち着く場所を探そうと歩いてたところに、この男性が来たのです。この方の名前は分かりません。ただ、彼は日本のテレビ局のプロデューサーだと言っていました。彼らの旅行のテレビ番組の質を向上させるため、アンケートをしようとしていました。その後、彼は親切に私に庭を見せてくれ、公文書保管所の古い歴史について鮮明に説明してくれました。地元の人がこんなに自分たちの文化に誇りを持って、ためらうことなく外国人にそれを紹介できるというのは素晴らしいことです。
This photo was taken in front of the Hokkaido old archives.When I was wandering and trying to relax myself, this man came to me. I didn’t know his name actually. He said he is one of the TV producers of a Japanese channel. He wanted to perform a questionnaire let could help to improve their traveling TV program. After that, he kindly showed me around the front yard and described the old history of the archives vividly. It was so fascinating that local people can be so proud of their own culture and present to foreigners without hesitation.
日本の好きなこと／嫌いなことを教えてください。
好きなこと
日本は食べ物、美しい景色、コスメ製品やその他たくさんの事ですでに有名ですが、私はこの人々の特性を称賛します。私の意見では、日本人は忍耐力を持って目的を達成し、新しい物や、オリジナルの商品を超えた心を打つデザインを考え出せると思います。日本の方の生き生きした想像力と、常に生活を良くしようとする姿勢に感銘を受けました。これを日本の食べ物に当てはめると、世界中の人がよだれがでそうになるでしょう。このお茶のお店でも非常に良い体験をしました。楽しかったのはアイスクリームが甘い中国豆腐などの食材と一緒になっているところです。このような西洋と東洋のコンビネーションは考えたこともありませんが、非常においしかったです。これが私が日本の終わりなき創造性を認める理由です。
Despite Japan is famous for food, beautiful scenery, cosmetic products and so forth, I admire people’s traits here a lot. In my opinion, they tend to achieve their goal with perseverance, and can also come up new creation or touched designs upon original merchandise. I was so impressed on this vigorous imagination and the attitude to always make life much better. When it applies to Japanese food, it would make most of people in the world mouth-watering. I had a quite good experience in this tea shop, what amazed me is that mixture of the ice cream with different ingredients,including sweet Chinese Tofu. I would hardly think of this western and eastern combination would turn out to be a great taste.This is why I appreciate their endless creativity.
嫌いなこと
本当に、日本の北海道では楽しく過ごしました。でも未だにいくつかの制限はあります。コミュニケーションはその中でもトップに入るでしょう。私は日本語がほとんど話せなく、言いたいことを表現するのに英語が必要です。多くの日本人、特に若い人は非常に英語の能力は高いです。みんなすぐに私の言いたいことを理解し、助けてくれようとします。でも話すとなると、私を避けようとしました。例えば、ホテルで夕食を取ろうとすると、ウェイターの一人が日本語でおすすめの料理を伝えようとしてくれます。私がそれ以上のことを英語で質問すると、質問には答えてもらえず、テーブルに皿を置くだけでした。日本人はもっと自分たちの話すことに自信を持ったほうが良いかと思います。
I really, certainly had a great time in Hokkaido, Japan. But some limitations still exist though. Communication may rank top of these. I can speak very little Japanese and most of the time I need English to accomplish my expression. Most of the Japanese, especially the youngsters, have good English ability. They can understand me easily and be willing to help me, but when it comes to speaking, they always try to avoid me. For instance, when I was having dinner in the hotel, one of the waiters tried to recommend me some kind of cuisine in Japanese. When I asked him further question in English, he just dropped the dishes on my table. I think Japanese should be more confident of their speaking.

JALで東京から北海道まで移動しました。全ての乗客に、清潔で快適な空のサービスが提供されていました。乗客員の方もやさしく外国人を助けようとしてくれます。
The JAL ride me from Tokyo to Hokkaido. They offer a new, clean and comfortable environment for all the passengers. The flying crew were kind and willingly to help foreigners.
