A Sea of Sunflowers Under the Summer Sun

A 1-hour drive from Misawa Airport brings you to "Yama no Gakkou" (Mountain School) in Hachinohe. This former school has been reborn as a vibrant community hub, blooming with 2 million sunflowers every summer. It is one of the largest sunflower fields in Tohoku, peaking from mid-August to early September.

Local Gourmet Recommendation
After exploring, enjoy "Gakkou no Sobaya" (soba noodles nearby) or head into the city for Hachinohe's soul foods: "Senbei Jiru" (savory cracker soup) and "Hachinohe Ramen"—a nostalgic, light soy-sauce ramen with fine, curly noodles.

Dive into Towada-Hachimantai National Park

Summer turns the gorge into a deep green sanctuary. Rejuvenate your mind and body by the pristine streams via rental bike or walking. At Oirase Keiryu Hotel, day-trippers can also hop on the guided "Oirase Gorge Open-Top Bus Tour" to easily feel the refreshing breeze.

"Tsuru no Maihashi Bridge" & Tsugaru Culture

Arching gracefully over Lake Tsugaru Fujimi, this bridge resembles a crane spreading its wings. As Japan's longest wooden triple-arched bridge, it blends warm craftsmanship with grand nature. Known as the "Bridge of Longevity," crossing it is said to bring a long, happy life.

Stay & Culture at "KAI Tsugaru"
