Why not try some delicious Okinawa soba in the Naha area, where popular restaurants from traditional long-established restaurants to unique, innovative restaurants are all gathered? Here are 5 recommended Okinawa soba places that you should definitely try when you visit Naha.

With the motto of "local production for local consumption," this exquisite cup of coffee is made using Okinawan wheat and local ingredients.

This is the Naha branch of "Kingetsu Soba," which has its main store in Yomitan Village. They are committed to local production and consumption, and serve Okinawa soba made with many ingredients from the prefecture. Their homemade fresh noodles, which have an appealingly smooth and chewy texture, are made with Okinawan wheat "Shima Mugi Kanasan." The pork belly topping on Okinawa soba is made with pork from the prefecture, and the deep-fried tofu is made with domestic soybeans purchased from a tofu shop in the prefecture. The fragrant, natural golden soup made with eight types of fish flakes is rich in flavor and goes perfectly with the fresh noodles and pork belly.
There are also menu items available to enjoy with soba, such as "Juicy Yanbaru Chicken."

We also offer a set menu that inherits the taste of a long-established restaurant.

The interior of the restaurant is mainly table seating. The pillars from when Mutsumi Shokudo was founded in 1958 still remain, giving a glimpse of the restaurant's past.

The restaurant is conveniently located just off Kokusai-dori, a street bustling with tourists. It opened after renovating the long-established restaurant "Mutsumi Shokudo," which sadly closed in 2017. Currently, in addition to Okinawa soba, the restaurant also serves the same menu items from the time of Mutsumi Shokudo, such as the "Nakami-jiru set meal" and "Yushi tofu set meal." The owner himself worked at Mutsumi Shokudo before it closed, learning the taste and passing it on, hoping that "long-time regulars can enjoy the same unchanging taste." Along with Okinawa soba, why not try the set meals that continue to be loved by locals?

Sanmainiku and seared cartilage soki can also be ordered as toppings on separate plates. We recommend dipping the seared cartilage soki in Okinawa soba topped with sanmainiku and enjoying them together.

Relaxing time in a renovated old house

The owner, who is originally from Naha City, renovated an old house that was built over 55 years ago and opened this restaurant. Inside the restaurant, you have to take off your shoes before entering. In addition to tatami seating with a nostalgic Japanese atmosphere, there are counter seats with a green color that blends in with the wood tones, reminiscent of a cafe.
The seat number plates placed on the seats are fun to look at, and along with the number, they list "Okinawan surnames" that have a connection to Okinawa, such as "Gushiken-san" or "Higa-san." By scanning the QR code with your smartphone, you can read a little information about the surname, allowing you to spend the time while waiting for your soba to be brought to you in a fun way.

"Fuchiba Soba" is popular for its self-service mugwort topping

"Fuchiba Soba (small size)" with plenty of mugwort: 680 yen
"Fuchiba Soba (small size)" with plenty of mugwort: 680 yen

This long-established restaurant is located in a quiet residential area in the Wakasa district of Naha City. It was originally opened as a directly managed store of Kamehama Noodle Factory, and uses the noodles from the same noodle factory, which have just the right amount of firmness and a smooth texture.
The shop's standard menu item is "Fuchiba Soba" made with mugwort. The fuchiba topping is self-service, and after ordering with the food ticket machine, you can add as much as you like by putting it in a basket.
While savoring the refreshing bitterness of mugwort, which is like a condiment, we also recommend changing up the flavor with table condiments such as "Koregusu," made by soaking island chili peppers in awamori.

The rich soup that goes well with the traditional noodles and the cartilage pork ribs are a perfect match.

"Nankotsu Soba" is also a popular dish. It is full of crunchy cartilage soki that has been simmered for a long time to give it a sweet and spicy flavor, making it a very filling dish. The soup, which is made by simmering pork with bonito and vegetables, has a deep, powerful flavor. The thick soup, which coats the noodles well, goes well with the cartilage soki.
The menu offers a choice of sizes from small to large depending on the amount of noodles, and even the large size is less than 1,000 yen, making it easy on the wallet. This restaurant is extremely popular among locals, as it offers classic and exquisite Okinawa soba at a reasonable price.

We also recommend the "Cartilage Soki" which is perfect for those who want to enjoy both cartilage soki and mugwort.

Enjoy the rich pork bone-based soup and chewy fresh noodles.

"Nankotsu soba with juushi" 900 yen
"Nankotsu soba with juushi" 900 yen

This is a restaurant where you can enjoy the classic Okinawa soba with chewy fresh noodles. There are three types of soba: "Sanmainiku soba", "Nankotsu soba" and "Vegetable soba", and you can choose between regular noodles or fresh noodles according to your preference. If you want to enjoy a smooth and chewy texture, we recommend the fresh noodles. For the regular noodles, which are especially popular with locals, we have selected Isa Seimen's medium-thick noodles that mix well with the soup.
The stock used in the soup is carefully extracted for over six hours, using pork bones as a base, blended with bonito and chicken to create a well-balanced, deep flavor.

The "Juushii," rice cooked with special buckwheat broth, is also delicious. All three types of soba are priced at 800 yen each, making them very affordable and easy to understand.
