The Sea in Prison?: A Room of Prayer in Blue Light.
The duo, known for focusing on overlooked life forms in remote natural environments, creates a space for prayer within Nara Prison that transcends time and place.
When I first stepped inside Nara Prison, I felt that KYUN-CHOME’s role here was to “let the visitors’ imagination fly far away.” This museum is a place for deep reflection on crime and punishment, human karma, and history. After confronting these heavy themes, I wanted to create a moment where the mind could suddenly drift far away. I truly believe that imagining the distant is what gives rise to love.

Art unit formed by Eri Homma and Nabuchi in 2011. They explore “new forms of love” beyond anthropocentrism, creating works with poetic imagination and humor. Participated in Aichi Triennale 2019 and Roppongi Crossing 2022. Solo exhibition “The Color of the Soul is Blue.”
