The shop has a nostalgic atmosphere, like being in a house deep in the mountains. The interior of the shop, where you can feel the warmth of wood, is visited by many people, regardless of age or gender, and the shop is always so crowded that there is always a line.
One dish we would like to recommend from this popular restaurant is the highly popular "Agemochi Sumashi." It contains three crisply fried homemade mochi rice cakes in a soup stock simmered with daikon radish. It also contains grated daikon radish, green onions, and bonito flakes. It has a simple taste, but you can enjoy the gentle umami that spreads throughout your mouth and the texture that changes as time passes. The mochi rice cakes are made in the shop every day and have a nice stretch, so children are sure to love them.

2Toyotsune Main Store
"Exquisite Tempura Bowl" with a crunchy batter and rich sauce that will have you coming back for more

As a popular restaurant with a constant line, it attracts many customers from outside the prefecture and even overseas, as well as locals, so be prepared to wait in line.
The specialty is tempura, deep-fried so that you can hear the crunching sound. The "Special Tendon" is a bowl of plump shrimp and vegetables, topped with a sweet and salty original soy sauce sauce that was carefully made by the owner who founded the restaurant. It is a truly blissful dish, and you won't be able to stop eating the rice soaked in the sauce. The miso soup, made with local Beppu "Sakamoto Chohei Miso", balances the sweetness of the dish and creates an exquisite taste.
Another specialty is sashimi prepared by skilled craftsmen.

If you have children with you, we recommend the tatami seating on the second floor. Chairs and cutlery for children are also provided, so you can relax without worry.
In addition to their specialty tempura, they are also well-known for their fresh fish sourced from the Bungo Channel. They also have a wide selection of sashimi dishes, including the Oita specialty "Ryukyu Donburi" which has a sesame base that is rarely seen elsewhere. Enjoy the well-seasoned sashimi with a hot spring egg.
If you can't wait a long time, we recommend using takeout, which can be purchased relatively quickly.

Enjoy a "Seafood Bowl" made with seasonal seafood from Oita

This popular restaurant often has long queues at lunchtime. Its popular "kaisendon" (seafood bowl) is a dish where you can enjoy fresh sashimi. It comes with around 10 types of seasonal ingredients, mainly seafood from Oita Prefecture, piled on top of vinegared rice.
Although the menu may change slightly depending on what fish is in stock, the main attraction is always wild Sekiburi. Its firm flesh is chewy and has a unique flavor. When in season, Spanish mackerel and bonito are also available. Enjoy it with a slightly sweet original blend of soy sauce, developed to go well with sashimi.
A wide variety of seafood dishes to share

The first floor of the store has a counter and raised seating, while the second floor is like someone's room, where you take off your shoes and sit on cushions. Manga and magazines are lined up.
As it started as a fishmonger, the variety, freshness, and taste of the seafood is outstanding. In addition to the seafood bowl, there is a wide variety of sashimi on the menu, including fried, tempura, simmered, and grilled dishes. Each dish is quite filling, so it is recommended to share with the family. There are also plenty of side dishes that children will enjoy, such as plump fried shrimp, sumptuous seafood fried rice, and French fries.

A blissful moment eating fresh fish swimming right in front of you

A Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy fresh local seafood. The most popular menu item is the "Seafood Rice Bowl." The sea bream, caught at Kamae Port and immediately released into the fish tank, has a crunchy and springy texture that is irresistible. A total of 10 types of seafood are served together, including thickly sliced sashimi, sea urchin, and scallops.
We recommend dissolving the brand egg "Ran-oh" and wasabi in the restaurant's original "Tai Soy Sauce" and pouring it over the bento box. The rich yolk and the mild-tasting soy sauce mix with the seafood, deepening the umami. This meal also comes with shrimp and seasonal vegetable tempura, homemade pickled vegetables, and dessert, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors.
Enjoy the flavors of Oita in a relaxing, traditional Japanese private room.

The restaurant is surrounded by trees and has a purely Japanese atmosphere. As you enter the restaurant through the stone-paved streets, you will come across a large fish tank in the center of the restaurant, where fish swim around. Seating is available in private tatami rooms or sunken kotatsu tables. You can enjoy your meal at your own pace without worrying about being seen by others.
The "Oita Local Meal" can be ordered for two or more people and includes Oita specialties such as Sekiaji and Sekisaba sashimi, Toriten, Dangojiru (dumpling soup), and Ryukyu (cucumber). The "Special Set Meal" is available only for lunch from Monday to Friday and is a great value menu with a different main dish each day. Sushi, ochazuke, and rice bowls are popular with children.

5Restaurant Ribbon
A restaurant with great portions and flavor that will make the whole family smile

This long-established Western restaurant has many fans among locals. The specialty "Toriten" is characterized by its crispy batter and soft, juicy meat. The dipping sauce, which combines soy sauce from Oita Prefecture with dashi stock made from bonito flakes and kelp, is exquisite and has a light texture.
Another specialty, "Ankake Yakisoba" is served heaping on a plate bigger than a person's face. Choose your preference between thin noodles that stay crispy until the very end, or thick noodles that start out crisp but become springy and chewy over time. With plenty of vegetables and a chicken-based sauce, it's lighter than you'd imagine.
Each dish is served with care, attention and dedication.

The interior has a retro feel and a relaxed atmosphere. There is spacious tatami seating, making it perfect for families with children.
What's great about this restaurant is the variety of over 70 different menu items that cater to a wide range of ages. The owner's pride and joy, the demi-glace sauce, is a masterpiece made by simmering beef bones and a large amount of vegetables for seven days. The soft "hamburger steak" is also a popular item. If you're under 10 years old, we recommend the "children's plate." The "children's lunch" is hearty and luxurious, and there is no age restriction, so it's perfect for when you want a lighter meal.
