Candy making is popular in the Matsumoto region, and there are records that the area was the number one producer of candy in Japan during the Meiji period. Every January, the "Candy Market" is held, where candy exhibitions, sales, and events are held.
Ame Senbei is one of Iida-ya Seika's signature products. It is a strange candy made by boiling down fine powdered sugar and forming it into thin sheets, with a crunchy texture similar to rice crackers. It melts in your mouth and has a refined taste, making it a masterpiece that embodies the spirit and soul of the craftsman. In addition to the Ame Senbei made with flavorful brown sugar from Okinawa, there are other flavors available, such as salt, wasanbon, and coffee.
