1Soma Confectionery
Apple pie generously topped with Aomori apples

This shop has been in business for over 45 years since his father's generation and is a favorite of locals. They sell homemade Japanese and Western sweets such as madeleines and monaka. Their "apple pie" is a popular item, with people coming from outside the prefecture to buy it. It has two apples on top, and is not only delicious but also looks gorgeous. The apples used are basically "Kogyoku" apples from Aomori Prefecture, which are rich in sweetness and sourness. Depending on the season, they may change to "Akane," which is a descendant of "Kogyoku." They don't boil the apples in sugar, but place them raw on the pie and bake it, so you can fully enjoy the apple flavor.
Famous sweets that have won national confectionery contests are also popular

Nowadays, the specialty is the "apple pie" created by the second generation owner who trained at a Western confectionery shop in Tokyo, but the "Towada Apple Cake" is also widely loved by long-time customers. This baked confectionery is made using a recipe inherited from his father, and is a gem known only to those in the know, having won an honorary gold medal at the 20th National Confectionery Exposition. The sponge cake is rich in butter flavor and contains apples preserved in syrup. In addition to being sold individually, they are also available in presentation boxes, making them perfect gifts.

2Handmade gelato shop NAMIKI
Original gelato made with fresh milk and local produce

This gelato shop was opened by Kaneko Farm, a farm in Shichinohe, Aomori Prefecture. Using fresh milk from the company's own Jersey cows, the shop hand-makes just the amount it will serve that day every morning. Jersey cows are known for producing rich milk. After milking, the milk is pasteurized at low temperatures to create a rich, flavorful gelato. Local vegetables and fruits are also mixed in to create a variety of flavors. In addition to the eight standard flavors, including the most popular "Jersey Milk" and "Cheese," there are also about three limited-edition flavors available at any one time, including "Apple," "Blackcurrant," and "Pumpkin."
Farm gourmet lunches and souvenirs also available

The souvenirs lined up in the cafe area include rapeseed honey, rapeseed oil, Aomori blueberry jam, beef jerky, etc. The lineup includes Kaneko Farm's special products, mainly made with ingredients grown on the farm.
Next door to the restaurant is "Farm Food NARABI," where you can enjoy lunch made with beef from the farm, such as steaks and hamburgers.
After your meal, head to the lawn area to relax while looking out at Mount Hakkoda and the cornfields.

3Lake Towada Marine Blue
A hearty apple pie that lets you enjoy the flavor of an entire apple

A cafe where you can relax while looking out at Lake Towada. The signature dish is the "Homemade Apple Pie" made with local apples, mainly Fuji apples. Inside is a whole apple in compote. It is made without cinnamon and has a modest sweetness, giving it a simple taste that lets you enjoy the deliciousness of the ingredients. It is very filling, but light, so even women can finish it in no time.
The "Homemade Apple Sherbet" is also recommended. It is made with apple syrup and lemon juice, allowing you to enjoy the concentrated apple flavor.
A lakeside cafe with plenty of lakeside leisure activities

The cafe is located in Towada-Hachimantai National Park, where Lake Towada is located. It stands on the shores of the lake and is surrounded by lush nature. The building has a woody feel that blends in well with the scenery. It is made of Aomori hiba and Akita cedar, and has glass on three sides so that you can see the lake.
On sunny days, be sure to head outdoors. From the terrace seats, you can enjoy seasonal scenery such as the fresh greenery of spring and the autumn leaves, and there is also a paid barbecue space. There is also a pier right in front of the restaurant, where you can enjoy rowing boats and swan boats.

4Roadside Station Towada/Towada Pia "Takumi Kobo"
Towada vegetables and fruits in soft serve ice cream

This soft serve ice cream stand is located in Takumi Kobo, an Experience Property at Roadside Station Towada/Towada Pia. Its specialty is No Ice Cream, made with agricultural products from Towada City. There are two types, one of which is made with Towada-grown "Masshirogura" rice. It has a smooth texture, a moderate sweetness, and a refreshing aftertaste.
The other is a soy milk flavored version made with locally grown "Osuzu" soybeans, and comes with sauces and toppings made with seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. Among the most popular are the spring-harvested Chinese yam sauce colored pink with beets, and the blueberry topping that is available from summer to autumn.
The ingredients used in "Nou Ice Cream" are sold in the agricultural produce section.

All of Osuzu's sauces and toppings are made with seasonal ingredients. They use a variety of ingredients, such as yam in the spring, blueberries and tomatoes in the summer, apples in the fall, and sweet, yellow Kinbi carrots in the winter. In addition, their vegetable shakes, which are made by blending seasonal vegetables with yogurt, are also popular as being both healthy and delicious.
These vegetables can also be purchased at the farm produce corner of the Towada Roadside Station and Towada Pia. Instead of "Nou Ice Cream," why not buy fresh vegetables and fruits delivered directly from local farmers as souvenirs?
