This program features a boat specially equipped with tables and cushions for a comfortable wine-tasting experience on the Otaru Canal. During the approximately 40-minute cruise, guests can enjoy a graceful experience while taking in the autumn breeze and the historic cityscape of Otaru.
Onboard, guests will be served “tabi2022,” a white wine made from 100% “Tabiji,” a grape variety originating in Otaru. This wine is crafted to pair with Otaru sushi and features a dry taste with hints of Japanese citrus and ginger, rounded acidity, and a slight astringency amidst its refreshing character.
The appetizers are sushi from “Sushidokoro Maeda,” owned by a chef from Otaru. The original set combines seasonal nigiri using salmon and shellfish that pair well with wine, along with appetizers featuring arrangements of surf clams and cream cheese. The refreshing flavor of the wine and its unique aroma reminiscent of Japanese citrus and ginger complement the seafood flavors perfectly.
