OMO5 Kyoto Sanjo by Hoshino Resorts

Atmospherictownhouse strolls

The Sanjo area is filled with Kyoto’s livelier charms-think retrofitted machiya townhouses offering places to shop, dine, drink, or relax over green-tea lattes and coffee. Stroll beneath the willow trees along the nearby Takase River canal for still more classic scenes dotted with temples and others history-laden spots.

Highlights!

13A Fun-filled OMO Base at Takase River

The Takase-bune (boats) linked Kyoto and Osaka during the Edo period and contributed to bringing about the town's development. The area along the Takase River, where the boats would pass back and forth, is a pleasant area with willows that sway in the wind. Rekindling that impression, the OMO Base is like a hub connecting travelers to the town itself. Hooray! The walking tour through town is about to start.

23A retro and stylish walk through the town

Cute and trendy small Japanese accessories. Sanjo Street is also a fun place to shop for furoshiki (wrapping cloths), prayer beads, scented pouches, and other items suited to a more sophisticated lifestyle. A leisurely stroll along the Sanjo Kobashi shopping district, commonly known as "Sankoba," will bring a warm smile to your face.

33A walk back in time, Takasegawa River

Walking from Ichino Funairi, the starting point of the Takase-bune(boats), you will encounter many historical landmarks along the way. After crossing a small bridge over the river, you will be guided towards Ponto-cho thanks to the colorful lanterns. Walking through this town, where the past and the present intermingle, you will feel as if you are stepping back in time.
