Savor Kyoto's Seasons and Culture Through Traditional Wagashi
As the noren curtains are drawn at OMO Base, a night-only wagashi (traditional Japanese confectionery) shop opens its doors. Experience Sanjo's unique blend of time-honored Kyoto traditions and a passion for modern trends with an innovative pairing of classic Kyoto wagashi and premium coffee.
Features of "Sanjo's Wagashi & Coffee Night"
1.Wagashi Shop-Inspired Decor
Throughout the space, noren in seasonal colors are displayed, allowing guests to feel the essence of the four seasons even indoors. At the center stands a stall designed to resemble a wagashi shop, featuring displays of seasonal wagashi for all twelve months. This setup conveys the deep cultural heritage of Kyoto’s wagashi, which has evolved alongside the changing seasons.
Guests can also choose their favorite from a selection of charming lamps inspired by wagashi and bring it to their table. Surrounded by gentle light, you can enjoy a relaxing café time at night.
2. Pairing of "Wagashi × Coffee"
We offer a special "Wagashi × Coffee" set that pairs beautiful, seasonal Kyoto sweets with authentic coffee, beloved in a city that boasts some of the highest coffee consumption in Japan. Our wagashi selection features seasonal masterpieces from renowned local confectioners such as "Tsuruya Yoshinobu" and "Kameya Yoshinaga." Enjoy a taste unique to Kyoto, where tradition and innovation harmoniously blend.
