Eight types of baths, regional wines, and jazz and classic recitals held nightly in a cavernous lobby are just some of the deep pleasures offered at this hot spring ryokan.Highlights
Matsumoto is home to Asama Hot Spring, which once fed the baths of the local feudal lord’s castle. It now feeds the thirteen baths at KAI Matsumoto, which provide a variety of bathing experiences.
In homage to Matsumoto’s music scene, jazz sessions and classic recitals are held nightly in the cavernous lobby, which offers excellent acoustics. Regional wines are served at this time.
Dinners are designed to help guests discover how well the region’s wines pair with seasonal Japanese cuisine. One popular dish is the red wine wagyu beef sukiyaki.
