The sight of warm lights lining the paths between the rice paddies is a special scene unique to the fallow season when the rice has been harvested. This year, lighting using rice straw, a byproduct of rice, will be added. Furthermore, as the rice paddies are flooded for better soil preparation during the winter, guests can also enjoy the sight of the gentle lights reflecting on the water’s surface, creating a mirror-like effect.
Hot wine blended with Oita Prefecture’s famous “yuzu kosho” (yuzu citrus and chili pepper paste) and “kabosu” (a type of citrus fruit) will be served. This is an original KAI Yufuin blend that warms you from the core and has a refreshing aroma. The accompanying baked sweets also use fruits that are specialties of Oita Prefecture. It is a “Yatsugai” experience that not only warms the body but also the soul, allowing guests to fully savor the essence of Oita.
From the veranda of the “Tanada Hanare” special rooms, two out of the total 45 rooms nestled within the rice terraces, guests can enjoy the closest view of the rice paddies lined with winter lights. The “Tanada Hanare” rooms offer a secluded escape where you can feel transported to a simpler time, surrounded by the beauty of the winter landscape.
