Hoshino Resorts (Headquarters: Nagano, Japan) operating over 60 properties in Japan and overseas with a unique and enjoyable travel experience will be rebranding opening “Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Guam” on 1 April 2023. With the concept “Essence of Guahan,” the resort aims to explore the core charms of Guam. It is the fifth overseas property by Hoshino Resorts and the seventh RISONARE resort following Tomamu, Nasu, Yatsugatake, Atami, Osaka, and Kohamajima.
Concept – Essence of Guahan
Guam, welcoming approximately 1.66 million visitors annually (*1), is a popular tourist destination with a variety of attractions, including beautiful beaches, abundant nature represented by mangroves growing in pristine jungles, and the Chamorro culture, a tradition, and custom of the people living in Guam. Guam's history has led to a culture that blends with the cultures of other countries such as Spain. We chose the concept of "Essence of Guahan" for more people to know about Guam's culture. Guahan refers to the Chamorro people in the native language of Guam. Tumon area, where the resort is located, is a quiet resort staying away from the hustle and bustle of the city and it is a place of origin of Guam’s culture with many historical artifacts.

Characteristics of RISONARE Guam
1) Welcome party “Gupot Kanton Tasi” with a backdrop of the beautiful sunset
In the Chamorro language, Gupot refers to party and Kanton Tasi refers to the ocean side. This event welcomes guests like a family and expresses the Chamorro spirit of sharing food, music, language, and culture in the same space. A variety of activities, including Chamorro food tastings and a coconut leaf craft experience, take place at the beachside right in front of the hotel, where one can enjoy the beautiful sunset and take part in the activities whenever they like. Guam's traditional dances and chacha can be enjoyed by children and adults alike while being lectured by our friendly staff. Meat and fish are grilled over a barbeque put modeled after Guam’s iconic Proa ship. This is an event where Guam culture is felt through interaction with our staff and dances.
