The Yachimun Room at OMO5 Okinawa Naha acts as a living gallery, showcasing over 100 traditional and modern pottery pieces that guests are encouraged to touch and explore. A complimentary “Yachimun Guide” helps transform a simple stay into an immersive art journey, perfect for experiencing the vibrant local pottery markets in fall and winter.
Leveraging its stunning seaside setting, Banta Cafe is hosting its sixth “Seaside Yachimun Market” this autumn. This popular event features pottery from studios across Okinawa, including the renowned ceramic center of Yomitan Village. Each weekend, different artists (some also featured in the OMO5 Okinawa Naha Yachimun Room) showcase their work on the breezy Seaside Terrace, giving visitors a unique chance to meet the makers.
Banta Cafe collaborated with young potters to create a limited-time menu centered around a modern Yushibin Tea Set—an interpretation of the traditional awamori bottle. Guests can enjoy tea and special pottery-themed sweets, such as cookies with Yachimun patterns and the “Noborigama Cornet” (inspired by climbing kilns), all served in these custom vessels. It’s a uniquely delicious and relaxing way to taste the spirit of the local pottery tradition.
Yomitan Village, where Banta Cafe is located, is known as a hub of Okinawan pottery with more than 70 studios. Near OMO5 Okinawa Naha, Tsuboya Yachimun Street preserves a historic climbing kiln from the Ryukyu Kingdom era and is lined with studios, shops, and galleries showcasing pottery from across Okinawa. Visitors can join pottery workshops or simply stroll the street to explore diverse styles and craftsmanship.
