~ Introducing a new sweet from LeTAO: Inspired by the snowy scenery of Otaru Canal ~

OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts will once again hold the "Otaru Canal Kotatsu Cruising" this year, where guests can spend an elegant winter moment wrapped in a kotatsu (*1) blanket on a boat and enjoy LeTAO sweets, from December 6, 2025, to March 29, 2026. This year, LeTAO Unveils a new dessert created exclusively for this program. Stay cozy in the kotatsu as you cruise down the canal, taking in the winter charm of Otaru.

The Otaru Canal is a popular tourist spot where 160,000 people take cruises annually. OMO5 Otaru offer different programs for each season as a new way to enjoy the Otaru Canal Cruise. Winter cruising is the season to enjoy the snowy scenery of the retro cityscape and the illuminations. This program invites guests to experience the magic of Otaru in winter, staying cozy and warm in a kotatsu while exploring the city's charms.

Features

1Operation of a kotatsu-equipped boat exclusively for hotel guests

While the Otaru Canal Cruise usually operates with bench seats, we will operate a boat specially equipped with kotatsu in cooperation with “Goudou Kaisha Otaru Canal Boat,” an Otaru Canal cruising company. On board the boat, you can stay warm and cozy in a kotatsu even in the harsh Otaru winter. During the approximately 40-minute cruise, you can spend an elegant time surrounded by the snowy scenery of the retro cityscape to your heart’s content.

2View of Otaru's snowy scenery from the best seats

The Otaru Canal is an exotic place lined with historical buildings, such as those made of stately wood and stone. This program will be held in the evening when the canal is illuminated after sunset. The fantastic scenery created by the historical buildings covered in snow and the warm lights of the gas lamps is a beauty that can only be seen in winter.

3NEW! LeTAO’s Special Dessert Inspired by Otaru’s Snowy Scenery Viewed from the Boat

Onboard, guests can enjoy a special dessert specially developed by LeTAO for this program. This creation is an adaptation of LeTAO Pathos’ popular “Mini Venice Rendezvous (Chocolat)”, designed to capture the scenic charm of Otaru as seen from the boat. Snow-covered streets are represented with cream and powdered sugar, while gold leaf evokes the gas lamps illuminating the Otaru Canal at night. In addition, guests can savor LeTAO’s original blended tea “Scent of Otaru,” inspired by the city’s retro streetscape. Together, the dessert and tea offer a refined and elegant way to enjoy the view of Otaru while indulging in its flavors.
