There are two spa treatments included in the stay designed to relax, warm the body, and bring balance to the mind and body. The first treatment scheduled for the first evening is a full-body treatment using warmed jade. The smooth texture of the jade gently warms the body and eases tension in the body and mind before bedtime. Mid-afternoon the next day, a treatment incorporating steamed seasonal plants will help participants re-energize and relax.
Before the treatment on the second day, the participants will warm up in a private hot spring bath while performing full-body stretches. Performed while taking deep breaths, the stretches include deep upper body twists and stretches from the waist to the thighs to loosen the muscles and make it easier for the body to breathe deeply. Using a floating pipe in the open-air bath, participants will relax and loosen any remaining stiffness in their bodies as they float while gazing up at the sky.
Dinner on the first day will be a “soy milk hot pot” with white ingredients such as daikon radish, white kikurage and tofu, which are known in medicinal cooking to improve lung functions, and mushrooms, which are said to strengthen the immune system. Served with condiments such as ginger, green onion, and sansho pepper, this hot pot dish will warm the body from the inside out. (*2)
Lunch on the second day will consist of small dishes made with more than 30 seasonal vegetables and a ginger soup. Each dish will stimulate your senses as you savor each ingredient, as you focus your attention on their taste, aroma, color, and texture.
For dinner, participants will experience “Nippon Cuisine ~Fermentation~,” a course meal that combines fermented foods native to various regions of Japan in combination with French culinary techniques. Since approximately 60% of the immune cells that keep the body healthy reside in the intestines, the introduction of fermented foods that activate “good bacteria,” which help regulate the gut flora, will help the intestines function normally and strengthen the immune system. During the first day’s consultation, “Power Walking”, participants will learn how to power walk to strengthen the lower body, which makes up the majority of the muscles in the entire body. A power walk is a walk in which the entire lower half of the body is engaged, starting at the base of the leg and moving up to the heel, with the entire sole of the foot firmly planted on the ground. 60% of the day’s thermal energy is generated by the muscles, so increasing muscle mass and physical activity is important to generate heat in the body in order to raise the body’s temperature.(*4) The goal is to learn the correct way to “power walk” during the stay and turn it into a habit.

During “Body Remake,” our dedicated conditioning coach from R-body project Inc. will assess each individual’s joint range of motion, flexibility, and muscle balance in order to understand their breathing and physical condition. The coach will then provide each individual with personal training to improve the balance of the entire body according to their individual conditions. This training program was developed based on medical science. Once one becomes aware of how to use the entire body to breathe and learns to take deep breaths, it stabilizes the core and brings balance to the body.
The morning after the core workout, participants will practice stretching to the rhythm of deep breathing. Set in a space filled with the aroma of fresh citrus fruits, one imagines opening one’s lungs wide and allowing air to flow through every part of the body. Regulating the breath and allowing the lungs to fill up with air stimulates and strengthens the lung functions and muscles involved in breathing. (*5) In addition, slow, deep breathing stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which improves blood flow, relaxes muscles, and is believed to relieve chills in the body. (*6)

Guests will learn about the characteristics of plants which serve as the ingredients of fragrances and how fragrances relate to life. They will then choose their favorite fragrance from 12 kinds of oils, including essential oils refined from Japanese plants, and create an original oil blend, the only of its kind in the world.
The guest will seek out the fragrance they want while sharpening their sense of smell with a balanced body and mind. During blending, they can clear their mind of unnecessary thoughts by focusing on the fragrance. By taking the oil blend with them, incorporating their favorite fragrance in their daily life, and breathing deeply, they will be able to calm their mind.
