This activity uses Oguni-sugi cedar, Kyushu's best wood which grows in Oguni Town at the foot of Mt. Aso. It's a simple process to shave the wood until it's smooth, but you can also feel the cedar's softness and warmth. It's a great thing to do if you have to remain in your hotel room.
