Hoshino Resorts' resort hotel brand "RISONARE," which operates domestically and internationally, will open its eighth property, "Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Shimonoseki," on December 11, 2025. The facility's concept is "Kaikyo (strait) Designer's Hotel." In addition to architecture that stylishly incorporates elements unique to the region, such as the Kanmon Strait scenery and "fugu" (pufferfish), the hotel will offer activities that take advantage of its prime location overlooking the Kanmon Strait, designing a "stay to fully enjoy the strait." This opening marks RISONARE's first expansion into the Kyushu/Yamaguchi area. Reservations are scheduled to begin in June 2025.

Prime Location Overlooking the Kanmon Strait
With the prime location overlooking the Kanmon Strait, the concept "Kaikyo (strait) Designer's Hotel" embodies the desire to design a stay where guests can fully enjoy the strait. The building's design harmonizes with the surrounding area, and a garden area within the premises will create an open space where nature and the sea blend together. The design of guest rooms and the infinity pool will stylishly incorporate elements unique to this area, such as the Kanmon Strait scenery and "fugu." Furthermore, taking advantage of the location where dynamic views of human activity and nature coexist, including the Kanmon Bridge, Moji Port on the opposite shore, and the ships passing by, the hotel will design a stay where guests can fully enjoy the strait through various activities.
About the "Arukapoto/Karato Master Plan""Arukapoto/Karato Master Plan" Image Illustration
In the "Partnership Agreement Regarding Regional Revitalization" concluded with Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture on April 30, 2022, Hoshino Resorts stipulated that it would work together with Shimonoseki City not only to operate Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Shimonoseki, scheduled to open in the Arukapoto district, but also to enhance the overall attractiveness of the Arukapoto/Karato area. This plan aims to make the Kanmon area, centered on Shimonoseki, a "leading waterfront city in Japan," incorporating our proposals of "1. Fully enjoy the strait," "2. Enjoy exploring from morning to night," and "3. Focus on the unique charm of a port town." In addition to admiring the Kanmon Strait, the area's greatest tourist resource, the plan aims to create opportunities to enjoy it in various ways through events and activities, and to create the pleasure of exploring the area with its changing charms depending on the location and time, such as the lively morning market and the night view of the strait. Furthermore, the goal is to create an area where visitors can fully enjoy the scenery and culture unique to the port town of Shimonoseki and the Kanmon area through experiences such as fishing and cruising.
