Property Details: Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Karuizawa

Like a stay at your best friend’s house
BEB5 Karuizawa is a laid-back hotel where you can be yourself, free from the rigid scheduling and constraints of a traditional hotel or ryokan. Catered to younger travelers, guests can tailor their trips however they like, creating their own travel adventure full of discovery and surprise. Coming whenever, they can relax in the lounge and talk the night away over a few beers, then fall asleep before they know it—the next day, wake up and decide the day’s plans as it goes.

BEB services for a chill stay
Without being restricted by time or a schedule, guests can enjoy a laid-back stay where they can do whatever they feel like, whenever. Dive into bed after late-night fun at the TAMARIBA lounge, a 24-hour lounge that is characteristic of the brand, and the check-out is around 11 am so there is no problem taking it slow in the morning. The cafe offers a variety of other items on the menu, so if you run out of sake or snacks, or if you want something sweet, head over to the café!

24-hour lounge: TAMARIBA lounge
The TAMARIBA Lounge at BEB5 Karuizawa is designed so that the cafe, library, and shop are arranged around the wood-deck courtyard. Other than the large glass doors leading to this courtyard, there are no partitions separating them, which makes the space one and seamless. Enjoy conversations or play board games until your satisfaction with drinks of your choice from the café for an unforgettable trip.

Guest Room: YAGURA Room
The Yagura Room, a guest room with a loft bed, is compact and yet relaxing. First, take off your shoes at the entrance, then trudge across the tatami floor to the back of the room. On the ground floor is a large sofa that can also be used as an extra bed, perfect for stretching out and lounging. Above the sofa is the loft bed, which we call the "Yagura bunk," and it feels just right at home and contained. Time is too precious just to spend it on sleeping that guests might just turn into night owls.

Design & Architecture
Comment from Tatsuro Sasaki from Tatsuro Sasaki Architects
The hotel consists of two buildings separated east and west and a wooden deck courtyard that connects them. The comforting natural environment of Karuizawa with its unique clear air, pleasant breezes, mild sunlight, and lush greenery was incorporated into the hotel design to make it an attractive place to stay. The public space that was named TAMARIBA was made in a way that the nature of the courtyard can be felt from everywhere on the premises. In addition to the wooden pillars and fittings that form the boundary between the courtyard and the garden, the nature of the courtyard is extended using wooden furniture and nature reflected in the mirror so that nature and space become integrated. There is also a cafe, library, shop, desks, and other functions that encourage guests to search for their favorite places and enjoy their stay as they wish, creating a free-spirited park-like space. It could be a place to watch wild birds and occasionally listen to music while enjoying coffee. We hope this free space will be a pleasure to stay in and even a favorite place for our guests.

Food & Beverages
Breakfast
We recommend our "French toast with wings" for breakfast, which is a slightly sweet French toast with crispy cheese “wings” to add saltiness and flavor. The amount of salad and bacon on the side can be adjusted to your liking. According to your mood, guests can choose to have their breakfast wherever they like on the premises, and don’t worry if you miss the 10 am mark as there will be quick bites available at the café.
