~A Christmas illumination unique to a wine resort, made by upcycling wine bottles~
Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yatsugatake, a resort hotel in the nature-rich Yatsugatake area, will hold "Wine Resort Christmas 2024" from December 1st to 25th, 2024. The event will feature 12,000 Yamanashi wine bottles illuminating the night sky. Based on the tradition of Yamanashi grape farmers storing homemade wine in Issho-bin bottles (*1), a new 3.5-meter-tall main tree made from upcycled Issho-bin wine bottles (*2) will be unveiled this year. Guests can also enjoy making Christmas wreaths using grapevine branches and corks, and savor Christmas-limited parfaits. This event offers a unique and special Christmas experience with loved ones amidst the sparkling illuminations.

Background
The 12,000 wine bottles illuminating the tree were collected from restaurants within the resort and wineries across Yamanashi Prefecture. While RISONARE Yatsugatake already recycles over 90% of its used wine bottles as concrete material, they sought a way to reuse these bottles that guests could also have fun with. In 2019, the commitment to sustainability and guest experience led to the dazzling Christmas tree made from 12,000 bottles, including those previously served within the resort, to adorn Piment Street. The resulting illuminations offer a unique celebration of Yamanashi's winemaking tradition. Each bottle, bearing the distinct mark of its maker, contributes to a luminous display that showcases the diversity and artistry of the region's wineries.
Feature 1: NEW! A 3.5-meter-tall Main Tree Made from Upcycled Issho-bin Wine Bottles
This year, RISONARE Yatsugatake celebrates "Yamanashi Wine" with a dazzling display on Piment Street. Making its debut this year is a magnificent 3.5-meter-tall main tree constructed entirely of Issho-bin wine bottles, all sourced from local wineries. The illuminations create a spectacle unique to the wine resort, with a captivating interplay of colors and shapes from the diverse collection of bottle labels, each reflecting the individuality of its winemaker.
Feature 2: NEW! Christmas Wreath Making Using Grapevine Branches and Corks
A craft workshop will be held where guests can create Christmas wreaths using grapevine branches and corks. The base of the wreath is made from branches pruned during the cultivation process to nurture delicious grapes. Participants can create original Christmas wreaths using decorations such as corks and ribbons. Guests can take their festive creations home and enjoy them long after their visit.

To honor this custom, RISONARE Yatsugatake will serve its Christmas-limited parfait in a bowl. This unique presentation adds a distinctive cultural touch to the festive dessert. The parfait features a sauce made with red wine, along with strawberries, mascarpone cheese, and pistachios, creating a visually stunning dessert. The parfait is characterized by the acidity of the strawberries and the mellow aroma of the wine-based sauce, providing a festive culinary delight.
