Background
Arashiyama, where HOSHINOYA Kyoto is located, is a place that has been praised and celebrated for its breathtaking scenery in numerous waka poems since ancient times. In the past, Heian nobles built villas in this area and enjoyed boating while admiring the changes of seasons. In the same spirit, we want our guests to enjoy the autumn flavors while swaying on a houseboat amidst the beautiful autumn leaves and have a luxurious experience exclusive to this season.

"Hisui" is a houseboat exclusively for HOSHINOYA Kyoto, finished as an elegant space surrounded by Kyoto's traditional crafts. For example, the boat frame uses Kitayama cedar and cypress wood used in shoin-zukuri architecture, and the wood end covers feature copper fittings, which have been seen in the decorations of pillars and ceilings of ancient temples. The boat also has bamboo backrests inspired by Kyoto's traditional townhouses' Inuyarai and soft cushions dyed with plants and flowers, making it one of a kind.
