Hoshino Resorts RISONARE, a resort hotel with a spatial design that takes advantage of local characteristics and a plethora of activities, offers unique regional and seasonal experiences. The groundbreaking ceremony for the opening of RISONARE Shimonoseki in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, was held on August 23, 2023. The planned site is located in the Kanmon Strait, where you can feel the dynamic nature of the beautiful coastline illuminated by the rising sun and setting sun, and it is an ideal location where you can see the passing ships up close. This is the first foray of RISONARE brand into the Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu regions, and the second property in Yamaguchi Prefecture, following KAI Nagato operated by Nagato-Yumoto Onsen. RISONARE Shimonoseki is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.

Taking advantage of its excellent location on the waterfront, property has an ocean view in every room, allowing visitors to view the Kanmon Strait and the passing ships from within guest room. It is also designed to fit in with the area, with a garden area on site to create a sense of unity between nature and the sea, and an infinity pool in property that utilizes seawater pumped from underground. The aim is to create a special experience that can only be achieved here, such as being exposed to seawater in a swimming pool in property while enjoying the spectacular view of Kanmon Bridge, and to spread the appeal of Shimonoseki and Kanmon Strait to the public, thereby contributing to the attractiveness and visibility of the entire area as a tourist destination.

In the Joint Agreement on Community Revitalization concluded with Shimonoseki City 2022, Yamaguchi Prefecture on April 30, Hoshino Resorts and Shimonoseki City decided to work together to enhance the attractiveness of not only the operation of RISONARE Shimonoseki, which is scheduled to open in the Takaport area in the fall of 2025, but also the entire Takaport and Karato area. The Plan states that the Kanmon area, centered on Shimonoseki, will become the "Waterfront City that CEO Japan." The development concept is "A port city in modern Japan that is fun to visit from morning to night, playing in the strait". The plan includes the "1. Play the straits." and "2. What you can enjoy from morning to night" "3. Focus on port townliness" proposed by Hoshino Resorts. In addition to viewing the Kanmon Strait, which is the largest tourist attraction, the resort also uses a variety of means to play as a venue for events and activities, and creates the pleasure of traveling around the area with attractions that change with place and time, such as the vibrancy of the market early in the morning and the night view of the strait. The resort also aims to be an area where visitors can fully enjoy the scenery and culture of the port towns of Shimonoseki and Kanmon, such as fishing and cruising experiences.
