On March 12, 2026, RISONARE Shimonoseki—the eighth property of Hoshino Resorts' domestic and international resort hotel brand, RISONARE—was selected for 'The World's Greatest Places of 2026' by TIME, the world's largest U.S.-based English-language weekly news magazine. This marks the first time a single Hoshino Resorts property has been chosen in the 'Places to Stay' category."
Reason for Selection
Under the concept of a 'designer hotel by the strait,' RISONARE Shimonoseki proposes an immersive stay that fully embraces the Kanmon Strait. This is achieved through spatial designs that incorporate unique local elements, such as panoramic strait views and 'fugu' (pufferfish), alongside activities that take full advantage of this spectacular location. The hotel's selection for the list recognized its unique spatial design inspired by fugu—a delicacy rarely consumed outside of Japan—as well as its diverse array of activities to fully experience the strait, and its thoughtful features designed to captivate adults and children alike.
