RISONARE Shimonoseki
Grand Opening on December 11, 2025
RISONARE Shimonoseki, the 8th property of Hoshino Resorts' domestic and international "RISONARE" brand, opened on December 11, 2025. Situated in a prime location directly facing the Kanmon Strait, the hotel offers stunning views of the ever-changing strait from guest rooms, terraces, and the pool.
With the concept of "A Designer Hotel by the Strait," we aim to design a stay where guests can fully enjoy the Kanmon Strait, leveraging our prime location directly facing it. The building is designed to harmonize with the surrounding area, featuring a garden that creates an open space where nature and the sea blend seamlessly. The designs of the guest rooms and infinity pool stylishly incorporate local elements, such as the scenery of the strait and "fugu" (blowfish). Furthermore, we offer activities that take advantage of the dynamic views—where human activity and nature fuse, such as the Kanmon Bridge, Mojiko Port on the opposite shore, and passing ships—ensuring a stay that allows you to fully experience the strait.
The hotel features 187 guest rooms across 9 different types, all of which offer views of the Kanmon Strait. The interiors and walls of every room feature an emerald green color palette inspired by the waters of the Kanmon Strait, creating a vibrant and colorful space. We offer rooms that can accommodate up to five guests, as well as dog-friendly rooms, allowing you to choose the perfect fit for your travel purpose and companions.
Limited to 5 Rooms: "Strait Cabana Suite"
The "Strait Cabana Suite" is designed with the image of a "cabana" found on a resort beach. The living room features a sandy area, creating a space where you feel as if you are on a private beach. The room is also equipped with a "Strait Cabana BOX" filled with items such as a telescope and seashells. Whether touching the shells or admiring the view from the top floor through the telescope, this suite allows you to enjoy the Kanmon Strait more fully than any other room.
We serve Shimonoseki's famous "fugu" (blowfish) as a full Italian course. The concept is "Il Fascino Di Fugu," which means "The Charm of Fugu" in Italian, embodying our desire for guests to discover the new appeal of fugu. This dinner course uses fugu in every dish, from appetizer to main, allowing you to fully savor its natural umami and the varying textures created by different slicing thicknesses.
Buffet Dining PUKU PUKU
"PUKU PUKU" is a buffet dining restaurant serving both dinner and breakfast. For dinner, we offer a wide variety of fugu (blowfish) dishes such as karaage (fried fugu) and bouillabaisse, as well as roast beef baked in seaweed. For breakfast, we serve "Kawara Soba" (tile soba), a local Shimonoseki specialty arranged to be enjoyed with fugu broth, along with citrus French toast. You can fully enjoy ingredients and menus unique to this region.
The "Fugu Pool" with Two Faces
Infinity Pool
Designed so that the water surface merges with the sea and sky, the infinity pool creates an extraordinary space that blends seamlessly with the scenery of the Kanmon Strait. Here, you can enjoy a sophisticated and relaxing time while gazing at the view.
All-Weather Indoor Pool
The all-weather indoor pool features a bold and playful design with a "fugu" (blowfish) motif. It includes a shallow pool and play equipment where small children can play safely.
"Naminami Terrace": Enjoying the View of the Kanmon Strait
"Fugu Beach": Relax As You Please
"Fugu Beach" features sand spread out like a real beach. It is designed with the "Fuwa Fuwa Dome" (bouncing dome) for children to jump and play on, along with sofas and greenery arranged in a pattern resembling a "fugu" (blowfish). Whether you grab takeout from the cafe to enjoy the view or let the kids play on the dome, it is an inviting space you will want to visit multiple times throughout the day.
Diverse Experiences to Fully Enjoy the Strait
RISONARE Shimonoseki offers diverse experiences that leverage its unique location. "First Kanmon Strait Experience" is an activity where you take a boat ride to learn about the characteristics and maritime traffic rules of the Kanmon Strait in a fun way. Additionally, every night we host the "Kaikyokan Lecture," presented by staff members trained by keepers from the Shimonoseki City Aquarium "Kaikyokan," which boasts the world's largest variety of fugu on display. From morning until night, you can enjoy a stay fully immersed in the charm of the strait.
