ABCs of Onsen Culture

Ito Onsen has a long history dating back to the Heian period and was renowned in the Edo period as a hot spring dedicated to the Shogun. In the Showa period, it flourished further as a "toji-ba" (therapeutic hot spring) for healing the body and mind, attracting many prominent writers and artists. While strolling through the Japanese garden where flowers of the four seasons bloom, we will unravel the scenes of Ito Onsen throughout the eras and trace the historical footsteps etched into this land.
