Itinerary
Day 1
Okuhidaonsengo is located in the mountains and is known for its abundant hot springs. Enjoy your stay, and feel the mountains close by.
At KAI, we offer “KAI Hot Spring Healing,” an authentic hot spring cure experience based on the efficacy and quality of the water at the hot springs.
Take a time to relax with our complimentary refreshments prepared in your room. Now, change your clothes into our original Samue.
On several occasions, our "Yumori of KAI" -Hot Spring Concierge- at KAI will explain the history of the hot spring as well as its spring qualities and effective ways to bathe.
The “Hida Craftsman Experience” is a hands-on experience of woodworking techniques handed down in the Hida region since ancient times. Bend wood with your own hands to make a wrapping cloth handle.
Wrap your bathing kit in a Furoshiki, a traditional wrapping cloth, and off to the hot springs.
Relax after taking a bath with a drink or an ice candy in one hand.
Enjoy a variety of dishes incorporating local elements that also delights your eyes.
The breathing exercises in the "KAI Hot Spring Healing" Guidebook lets you calm down.
Ginger tea with black vinegar and brown sugar relieves your fatigue and regulates your body temperature. It gradually prepares your body and mind for a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
A soft, cloud-like mattress provides you the most comfortable sleep while supporting your body at its core. Smooth sheets and pillowcases invite you to heavenly sleep.
Day 2
This exercise is held in the courtyard to wake up the body slowly while feeling the morning sun rising from the mountains.
At KAI, we offer a “Local Breakfast” using ingredients and cooking methods that reflect the local culture.
Try walking with large strides while consciously “inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.” A course map is available with routes that you can walk lightly for about an hour.
Why not visit Shin Hotaka ropeway, Kamikochi, and other unique mountain sights?
The open-air bath with a gaping hole in the ceiling is recommended for bathing while enjoying the cool of the evening.
Panels on the display introduce the mechanism of hot springs, the history of hot spring cures, and the descriptions of the spring qualities. It is also a great way to review hot spring etiquette and manners.
The centerpiece of this kaiseki meal is Hida beef. The rich, tender meat is lightly browned while wrapped in hackberry leaves before being grilled.
While soaking in the footbath with running spring water, you will be healed by the scenery, which is different from that of the daytime.
Day 3
Early morning hours spent in the courtyard, feeling the clear morning air.
Off to the dining area to satisfy your stomach.
We offer delicious coffee along with books and stories about the history, culture, nature, and crafts of the area.
Our shop has a wide selection of local treats and folk crafts for you to take home.
The check-out is until noon. When you leave the inn, you are refreshed and fully charged.
