4 HOSHINOYA Properties Recognized with One MICHELIN Key in 2026

We are delighted to announce that our of our HOSHINOYA properties—HOSHINOYA Kyoto, HOSHINOYA Guguan, HOSHINOYA Okinawa and HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island—have been recognized with One MICHELIN Key!

The MICHELIN Key, introduced by Michelin Travel Partner, part of the Michelin Group in France, recognizes outstanding hotels based on criteria including architecture and design, quality of service, personality and character, connection to the local area, and the overall guest experience. The 2026 selection was announced on 18 September. HOSHINOYA Kyoto and HOSHINOYA Guguan have been awarded One MICHELIN Key for the second consecutive year, while HOSHINOYA Okinawa and HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island have been selected for the first time. Located in different natural and cultural settings across Japan and Taiwan, the four properties draw inspiration from their respective destinations — from mountain forests and hot springs to historic cities, Ryukyu culture and traditional island communities — to create distinctive stays rooted in the character of each place.

About HOSHINOYA Okinawa

Located in Yomitan Village, HOSHINOYA Okinawa embodies "Ultimate Luxury from the Coastlines of Okinawa" by blending Ryukyu culture with a modern resort design. Spanning a kilometer of natural coastline, all low-rise, ocean-front rooms offer views of Okinawan sunsets and seascapes. Guests can enjoy year-round heated pooling, regional dining at Doma, and daily cultural immersion like traditional dance and sanshin performances.

About HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island

Located in Okinawa’s Yaeyama Islands, HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island honors the philosophy of "protecting the island's history and traditional culture together." Inspired by traditional Ryukyu architecture, the resort features red-tiled guest villas, white-sand paths, and communal spaces built to mirror the island's heritage settlements. Situated in Japan's first International Dark Sky Park, the property minimizes artificial lighting to offer guests unfiltered views of the star-filled night sky alongside authentic island living.

About HOSHINOYA Kyoto

Nestled along Arashiyama’s Katsura River, HOSHINOYA Kyoto offers a tranquil escape accessible by boat from central Kyoto. Designed as a "picturesque nobles' retreat," the property seamlessly blends local history, culture, and cuisine with breathtaking seasonal landscapes—from spring cherry blossoms to winter snow. Guests can step off the typical tourist path to slow down and immerse themselves in the quiet natural beauty of Kyoto's mountains and waters.

About HOSHINOYA Guguan

Located in Taichung's Guguan area, HOSHINOYA Guguan is Hoshino Resorts' premier luxury hot spring retreat in Taiwan. Inspired by the concept of a "mountain valley pavilion," the resort integrates Xueshan Mountain scenery, rich hot spring waters, and local Atayal culture into a peaceful, water-filled sanctuary. Every guest room boasts a semi-open-air hot spring bath, offering seasonal mountain views and a serene escape from the city.
