Property Detail: OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts

OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts is a city tourism hotel in Otaru, a retro port town that developed as an economic center with financial institutions and trading companies lining the streets. Get your bearings at our travelers' fun lounge, the OMO Base, and head out into a canal and warehouse district dotted with glassworks and other artisan studios, cafés, a sake brewery, and fun shops to explore. On a morning stroll around the wharf, guests can hear the lively calls of fishermen bringing in the day’s catch of herring, a specialty featured on our menus.

A retro hotel renovated from a historical building designated by Otaru City
The hotel is located in an area that used to be called the "Wall Street of the North" and has many historical buildings, making it an ideal base for sightseeing in Otaru. Housed in the beautifully restored Former Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, a designated historical landmark, our South Building exudes timeless elegance. Discover original architectural details like the grand staircase, repurposed shelves, and vintage vanities, all thoughtfully integrated into the interior design. The modern North Building complements this with stylish functionality while incorporating quirky touches like repurposed fire hydrants and keys from the original building. Every corner of OMO5 Otaru invites you to uncover a piece of Otaru's rich history, making your stay a truly immersive journey into the past.

OMO Base, a public space that boosts excitement in travel
The OMO Base is a public space with ideas to make town strolls more enjoyable. On the wall decorated with fire hydrants and switchboards used in the former Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry building (South Building), there is a Neighborhood Map where guests can find recommendations from our neighborhood guide, the OMO Ranges. From charming Otaru glass shops to mouthwatering sushi restaurants and cozy eateries serving local wine paired with Western cuisine, the map reveals a side of Otaru only the locals know. As a delightful bonus, the OMO Base offers a curated selection of music boxes, an iconic symbol of Otaru. Choose your favorite melody and take it to your room, where you can unwind to the soothing sounds and let the gentle tunes transport you to a time in the past.

Choosing a guest room according to travel purposes
Tailor your stay to your travel needs with our range of thoughtfully designed rooms. Whether you're seeking an escape in our spacious and retro-inspired Deluxe or Superior Rooms, or a comfortable retreat in our bright and airy Twin Rooms, OMO5 Otaru offers the perfect accommodation to suit your journey.

OMO Cafe & Bar, a space where Otaru Meets Spain
Located on the 3rd floor of the South Building, the OMO Cafe & Bar is a space renovated from the former assembly hall of the Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In the evening, it transforms into a night lounge, offering a variety of a la carte dishes, including original dishes inspired by popular menus from nearby restaurants with a touch of excitement. We offer Spanish-inspired dishes for breakfast, drawing inspiration from the Spanish travel culture of staying in historic buildings and the abundance of seafood in Spanish cuisine. Spanish classics such as churros and Spanish omelet are prepared and served right in front of you.
