A water mill marks the entrance of this riverside hot spring ryokan, which offers expansive river views, baths surrounded by nature, and activities based on pastoral traditions.Highlights
The riverside bath halls include an indoor bath with a large picture window and an outdoor bath that is accompanied by the burbling of the river. Lush seasonal colors adorn the surroundings.
Activities are based around the traditional practices of this mountainous region, such as grinding soybeans into a flavorful flour called kinako and making washi paper by hand.
Dinners pay homage to the area’s hunting traditions. Thin slices of wild boar are served in a shabu-shabu with miso and other dipping sauces that complement the meat’s sweetness.
