Cherry Blossom Viewing + Water Cycling Event

-
Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Tsuchiura will hold the "Cherry Blossom Viewing + Water Cycling" event from March 25 to April 10, 2023, offering you an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of cherry blossoms all to yourself. The cherry blossom is Tsuchiura City's representative flower, and the city has one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in the world, including Kijo Park, Kasumigaura Bayside, and the Shinkawa River. Many people, from locals to tourists, gather to enjoy this springtime tradition during the cherry blossom season. This event proposes a unique springtime experience for guests to enjoy both cycling and the beautiful cherry blossoms of Tsuchiura City.

Features

1Cherry blossom viewing on a water bike!

We have water bikes prepared so guests can enjoy gazing at the cherry blossoms while cycling. It runs on both rivers and lakes! The water bike’s highly stable performance provides excellent protection from waves and wind, allowing you to water-cycle in comfort. It runs at a leisurely average of 10 km/h, letting you savor the scenery of the cherry blossom arches. Change the water bike’s direction by turning the handlebars, just like riding a regular bicycle on the road. Our staff will even assist you in getting in and out of the water bike. No need to worry whatsoever!

2Enjoy the cherry blossoms all to yourself

The Shinkawa River runs east to west through Tsuchiura City. About 200 Yoshino cherry trees line both banks, spanning a distance of around 2 km. The branches spread wide from both riverbanks, creating arches of cherry blossoms reflecting on the river’s surface. Immerse yourself in this all-cherry-blossom scenery. Unlike conventional cherry blossom viewing, there are no other people on the river, meaning you will have the cherry blossoms up close all to yourself.

3Sakura Mochi, a local favorite

Sweets are indispensable to cherry blossom viewing. To maximize your experience, we also offer cherry blossom mochi from Shichino, a Japanese sweets store in Tsuchiura that has been in business for 70 years, beloved by many locals. Snack on the bite-sized mochi while watching the cherry blossoms on the water. Enjoy it with Sashima tea, a tea notable for its rich aroma and full flavor, mainly produced on the Sarushima plateau in Ibaraki.
