OMO7 Osaka by Hoshino Resorts, an urban hotel where you can experience "Naniwa Luxury," will launch "What a Blast, EXPO!", a series of creative content allowing the guests to fully enjoy the before and after Expo experience at the hotel, from February 13th to October 13th, 2025. In partnership with SkyDrive Inc., whose "flying car" will be demonstrated at Expo 2025 Osaka, we aim to enhance our guests’ Expo and Osaka experience. These new offerings include future tourism exhibits and performances, "Expo Maniacs" lectures on unique ways to enjoy the Expo, and a walking tour conducted by our own OMO Ranger connecting the Expo and Shinsekai neighborhood.

Features

1"What a Blast, EXPO LIVE!" to deliver the latest Expo information - Flying Car Edition

The Local Guide OMO Rangers will deliver the latest Expo information every night. An exhibition machine of SkyDrive Inc’s manned test aircraft “SD-03,” which succeeded in Japan’s first public manned demonstration flight in August 2020, will appear in the hotel. The exhibition machine provides an immersive experience, allowing guests to explore the features and mechanism of flying cars. The display encourages contemplation of the unique views possible with this new mode of travel and its implications for tourism. Aboard the machine, one can experience the future of transportation firsthand, inspiring thoughts about how flying cars will reshape tourism, and adding excitement to future Expo and Osaka journeys.

Introduction of SkyDrive Inc.
Established in July 2018 with the mission of “leading the once-in-a-century mobility revolution,” SkyDrive is developing “flying cars” to realize a future where “the sky is used for everyday transportation.” In 2019, it succeeded in manned flight of a “flying car” for the first time in Japan and is planning to conduct a demonstration flight of the three-seater “SD-05” at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

3OMO Ranger Tour: Walking Around Shinsekai - EXPO Special

Shinsekai, a downtown area of Osaka famed for Tsutenkaku Tower and Janjan Yokocho, offers a retro atmosphere reminiscent of a journey back in time. This guided tour, led by local guide OMO Rangers, allows exploration of Shinsekai’s charming streets. During the Expo period, the “EXPO Special” tour will delve into the area’s history, including its connection to the 1970 Osaka Expo and the “5th National Industrial Exhibition” held 122 years ago. Participants will uncover the intertwined history and culture of Shinsekai and the Expo, from popular foods of past eras to the once-thriving amusement park, revealing new perspectives on Shinsekai sightseeing.

Period: February 13th to October 13th, 2025
Time: 16:00-17:00
Target: Hotel Guests Only (reservation required)

4"EXPO Connection Exhibition" to learn about the connection between Shinsekai and the Expo 122 years ago

In 1903, the “5th National Industrial Exhibition” was held in what is now Shinsekai, and it is said to have led to the Osaka Expo in 1970. We will reproduce and exhibit valuable materials from 122 years ago, such as guide maps, admission tickets, and “speed walking maps” for smoothly navigating the venue, which were used at that time. Approximately 30 students from the Graphic Design Department of Osaka Designer Academy, a vocational school founded by Akademia 21st Century that fosters future designers, will be in charge of the exhibition design. This collaborative exhibition project allows visitors to reflect on the materials from 122 years ago in an exhibition space created by students who will lead the future.

6Other Information

As part of the efforts of the Expo 2025 PR Bronze Partner, PR images are being projected onto the wall of the OMO7 Osaka building. The exterior membrane of our hotel is equipped with approximately 13,000 LEDs, and the technique of applying the indirect light of these LEDs in a linear fashion to create an image is a first in Japan. Furthermore, from January 3rd, 2025, 100 days before the opening of the Expo, until the day before the opening, April 12th, countdown videos to the opening will be showcased.
