Karuizawa Tsukimi Festival

In Karuizawa, nestled at an altitude of 1,000 meters, you can behold an exceptionally radiant moon in the clear autumn air. In this region of long winters, our predecessor, Hoshino Onsen Ryokan, cherished the tradition of moon viewing as the last recreational pursuit of the year. We proudly carry on this elegant experience, offering you enchanting autumn evenings.

Six Moon Banquets

HOSHINOYA Karuizawa, with its diverse landscapes featuring Tanada, gentle hills, and expansive terraces, offers exclusive moon-viewing seats meticulously arranged to align with the lunar phases. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the ephemeral beauty of the moon, unique to that specific day and moment.

<Full Moon> Original Dumplings

We are hosting a full moon banquet in an ethereal setting, quietly illuminated by the full moon's glow. Delight your senses with our original dumplings, where a full moon crafted from apple paste emerges from "clouds" of gyuhi. This allows you to savor the moon's beauty with both your eyes and palate.

<Waning Gibbous>

During this period, the moon rises later, past its full phase, inspiring the Japanese term "Imachi-zuki" (Sit-wait moon). In homage, we present exclusive moon-viewing seating on a frozen surface. Here, amidst the forest where moonlight illuminates the ice and casts mystical shadows on the trees, you can savor exquisite herb-infused cocktails.
