Japanese Orchestra of Kyoto Gion Festival

Enjoy the traditional Japanese music of Kyoto’s Gion Festival, a beloved summer event that lets you feel the charm and atmosphere of the ancient city.
The Gion Festival, a summer tradition in Kyoto, is held to pray for good health. The Takayama group transforms a yamaboko float into a yakatabune boat and performs Gion-bayashi music on the Oi River, in front of HOSHINOYA Kyoto.
HOSHINOYA Kyoto is located in the deep Arashiyama, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of green maples and the Oi River. The sounds of Kyoto’s summer, gongs and flutes from a yakatabune boat, echo through the valley.
After enjoying Gion-bayashi music, you can learn to play the gong and join the musicians. Experience the charm of Kyoto's summer by playing Gion-bayashi, feeling like a part of the ensemble.
