Itinerary
Day 1
Ito Onsen is famous for its abundant supply of hot spring water, one of the largest in Japan. It has a long history as a therapeutic hot spring and used to offer them to Iemitsu Tokugawa (1604-1651).
It takes 5 minutes from the station by taxi or 10 minutes on foot.
After passing through an entrance reminiscent of a ship boarding platform, an piece made of woods from old ships welcomes you.
At KAI, we offer “KAI Hot Spring Healing,” an authentic hot spring cure experience based on the efficacy and quality of the water at the hot springs.
Take a time to relax with our complimentary refreshments prepared in your room. Now, change your clothes into our original Samue.
Wrap your bathing kit in a Furoshiki, a traditional wrapping cloth, and off to the hot springs. Enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean from the main bathhouse located on the top floor.
At the Yuagari lounge, savor our complimentary IPA, a beer that was developed to withstand a long voyage and thus has been beloved by sailors.
From the Sun Buena Deck, reminiscent of the deck of a ship, enjoy the view of the sea and sky that change over time.
On several occasions, “Yumori of KAI” -Hot Spring Concierge- will explain the history of the hot spring as well as its spring qualities and effective ways to bathe.
Enjoy our Kaiseki cuisine with the essence of England, where Anjin Miura was born, in a space full of playful touch using different materials.
We offer a short film on the life of Anjin Miura, an English navigator associated with Ito, an origin of the name of our inn.
The breathing exercises in the “KAI Hot Spring Healing” Guidebook lets you calm down.
Ginger tea with black vinegar and brown sugar relieves your fatigue and regulates your body temperature. It gradually prepares your body and mind for a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
Day 2
On the San Buena Deck, gaze at the beautiful sunrise and enjoy the sea breeze as you slowly stretch your body.
At KAI, we offer a “Local Breakfast” using ingredients and cooking methods that reflect the local culture. Breakfast at KAI Anjin features a soup inspired by the traditional fisherman’s breakfast, flavored simply with sea bream broth, salt, soy sauce, and ginger.
Try walking with large strides while consciously “inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.” A course map is available with routes that you can walk lightly for about an hour.
Try our breathing techniques to enhance the effects of the hot spring or enjoy the local beverages after bathing.
Panels on the display introduce the mechanism of hot springs, the history of hot spring cures, and the descriptions of the spring qualities. It is also a great way to review hot spring etiquette and manners.
Right in front of the inn is Anjin Memorial Park, where you can enjoy a walk along the beach. We also recommend visiting the Jogasaki Coast and Mount Omuro.
We offer flavored teas made from local tea leaves and herbs along the route of Anjin Miura’s voyage.
Relaxing your body in the evening helps with digestion for dinner.
Our special Kaiseki cuisine includes bouillabaisse, a great way to savor the delicacy of Izu seafood such as lobster, sea bream, and clams.
The inn is filled with artwork with motifs of the sea and sailing. Take your time to admire them in the dining area or your guest room.
Bathing at night with a view of the dark ocean creates a different atmosphere from the daytime. Listen to the sound of the waves and enjoy a moment of relaxation.
Day 3
Our “Original Exercise” features unique movements that incorporate the local histories and tourism resources. It improves your blood flow, especially when coupled with bathing in hot springs.
Enjoy the glistening water and blue sky in the morning sun. The morning bath refreshes your body and mind.
Off to the dining area to satisfy your stomach.
A road along the banks of the Matsukawa River is surrounded by weeping willows and classic street lamps. Lined with old-fashioned wooden buildings such as Tokai-kan, the area has the elegance of an old hot spring resort.
We offer delicious coffee along with books and stories about the history, culture, nature, and crafts of the area.
Our souvenir shop has a variety of souvenirs, including the tea and local treats that you have tried during your stay and the tea utensils that you used in your guest room.
The check-out is until noon. When you leave the inn, you are refreshed and fully charged.
