Itinerary
Day 1

Hakone Yumoto Onsen has a history of 1,200 years as the birthplace of Hakone Onsen. Enjoy the famous hot spring that has healed countless travelers.

At KAI, we offer “KAI Hot Spring Healing,” an authentic hot spring cure experience based on the efficacy and quality of the water at the hot springs.

Take a time to relax with our complimentary refreshments prepared in your room. Now, change your clothes into our original Samue.

Wrap your bathing kit in a Furoshiki, a traditional wrapping cloth, and off to the hot springs. Be mesmerized by the beautiful scenery in the semi-open-air bath as if it were a painting.

Savor a variety of dishes that incorporate Japanese ingredients with Western techniques, featuring characteristics of Hakone with a long history as a hot spring resort and a place of cultural exchange with foreign countries.

On several occasions, “Yumori of KAI” -Hot Spring Concierge- will explain the history of the hot spring as well as its spring qualities and effective ways to bathe.

Enjoy our complimentary, nostalgic popsicle. It cools off your body warmed by the hot spring.

At “Yosegi CYAYA,” we offer a picture-story show about the secrets of Yosegi-zaiku marquetry. Enjoy the moment to experience the craftsmanship of the artisans.

The breathing exercises in the “KAI Hot Spring Healing” Guidebook lets you calm down.

Ginger tea with black vinegar and brown sugar relieves your fatigue and regulates your body temperature. It gradually prepares your body and mind for a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
Day 2

This is an exercise wearing Waraji sandals as if you were traveling Hakone in the olden days. Comfortable stimulation from the soles of your feet helps you wake up refreshed.

At KAI, we offer a “Local Breakfast” using ingredients and cooking methods that reflect the local culture. At KAI Hakone, we prepare Japanese set meals containing local Kanagawa ingredients like ”kamaboko” steamed seasoned fish paste, and rice cake.

Try walking with large strides while consciously “inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.” A course map is available with routes that you can walk lightly for about an hour.

Try our breathing techniques to enhance the effects of the hot spring or enjoy the local beverages after bathing.

Panels on the display introduce the mechanism of hot springs, the history of hot spring cures, and the descriptions of the spring qualities. It is also a great way to review hot spring etiquette and manners.

With our inn as a base, explore surrounding areas such as the Old Tokaido Road, which still retains its original form, and the power spot Hakone Shrine.

Located along the Sukumo River, KAI Hakone is an inn that proudly offers magnificent river views from every room. Feel the nature of Hakone as you listen to the murmur of the river.

Relaxing your body in the evening helps with digestion for dinner.

Enjoy our “Beef Hot Pot in Meiji” that recreates the surprise of discovering a new cuisine of eating beef with the advent of westernization in the Meiji period..

Try your hand at crafting with Hakone Yosegi-zaiku marquetry. Create your original souvenirs using KAI Hakone’s original wooden pieces.

The main bathhouse at night creates a different atmosphere from the daytime. Enjoy forest bathing while dipping into the hot spring, unique to semi-open-air bathhouses.
Day 3

At KAI Hakone, we also offer guest rooms with an open-air bath. Enjoy a quiet, relaxing bath in a private space undisturbed.

Off to the dining area to satisfy your stomach.

We offer delicious coffee along with books and stories about the history, culture, nature, and crafts of the area.

Our shop has a wide selection of local treats and folk crafts for you to take home.

The check-out is until noon. When you leave the inn, you are refreshed and fully charged.
