Traditional hot spring culture
Stone baths (ancient saunas) are said to originate in the Kamakura period. Because it was difficult to fully warm the body using only the low-temperature hot spring water that bubbled up, a unique hot spring culture developed around them.
At KAI Miyajima, we have revived the Setouchi Ancient Sauna, which is rarely seen today, as a modern relaxation space. Utilizing the radiant heat of the stones, you will be gently enveloped in warmth at a comfortable temperature of around 50 degrees Celsius, placing minimal burden on your body.
Under the guidance of the staff, the Setouchi Ancient Sauna experience involves alternating between a 10-minute bath and a 5-minute rest, repeated three times.

After working up a refreshing sweat, drinks and a special gelato are prepared for you. Strike up a lively conversation in front of the calm sea, and enjoy the deep hot spring culture rooted in the local culture.
