Guide to the Gion Festival

Know the "Mikoshi" deeper
An event where you can see, hear, and experience the "Mikoshi Togyo", the most important ritual in the month-long Gion Festival.
Decorations like red lanterns and fans, centered around three miniature mikoshi (portable shrines), will color the interior. Even outside the days of the Shinko-sai (July 17) and Kanko-sai (July 24) when the actual procession passes right in front of the hotel, you can fully immerse yourself in the festive mood for the entire month.
During the "Gion Beautiful Morning Walk" tour, an OMO Ranger will guide you to see the mikoshi displayed at Yasaka Shrine. This is a special experience where you can view the mikoshi up close during the less crowded morning hours.
*Available for 6 days only from July 11 to July 16.
*"Gion Beautiful Morning Walk" requires another reservation in advance (capacity: 10 people).
