Savor a new pairing of authentic coffee and traditional Japanese sweets.

At OMO5 Kyoto Sanjo, located in the Sanjo area where the charm of old Kyoto meets a love for the new, a night-time-only wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop opens its doors. In a space lit by adorable lamps shaped like traditional sweets, you can enjoy a new pairing of Kyoto's long-established wagashi and coffee.

Features of "Kyogashi at Night: Sanjo Shop"

1.Seasonal interior decor

Throughout the space, noren in seasonal colors are displayed, allowing guests to feel the essence of the four seasons even indoors. At the center stands a stall designed to resemble a wagashi shop, featuring displays of seasonal wagashi for all twelve months. This setup conveys the deep cultural heritage of Kyoto’s wagashi, which has evolved alongside the changing seasons.

Guests can also choose their favorite from a selection of charming lamps inspired by wagashi and bring it to their table. Surrounded by gentle light, you can enjoy a relaxing café time at night.

2. A new pairing: Wagashi × Coffee

We offer a special "Wagashi × Coffee" set that pairs coffee—beloved by the people of Kyoto, known for having one of the highest coffee consumption rates in Japan—with traditional Kyoto wagashi that reflect the beauty of the changing seasons. Enjoy a unique flavor experience born from the harmony of tradition and innovation, only possible in Kyoto.

3. A soothing moment of harmony between Japanese tradition and coffee

Using the brewing method taught directly by the master of the nearby classic coffee shop "Smart Coffee," our hotel staff, the OMO Rangers, prepare carefully crafted drip coffee right before your eyes. For wagashi, we select exquisite seasonal sweets from renowned local shops such as "Nijo Wakasaya" and "Tsuruya Yoshinobu." Surrounded by the rich aroma of slowly brewed coffee and the gentle sweetness of wagashi, you can enjoy a relaxing and peaceful moment.
