From April 1 to May 31, 2024, the "Mwarmwar (Marmer) Flowering Risonare" will be held for the first time with the theme of "Mwarmwar," a traditional flower crown in Micronesia. At this event, visitors can view the "Big Mwarmar" and attend a seaside party with a spring-inspired ceremony. In addition, workshops taught by local artists, activities to decorate cookies with flowers, and many other experiences for children and adults will be prepared.

Guam has long been the one of big island of the Micronesian Islands, where the cultures of the surrounding islands, such as Palau, gather. A mwarmwar is a flower crown or headpiece traditionally worn in the Pacific Islands and is a symbol of the tropical flower culture. They are indispensable for celebrations and other special events, and are filled with wishes from the creator to the recipient. We would like visitors to feel Guam's traditional flower culture and are holding the first "Mwarmwar's Flower Blooming Risonare".

While the normal mwarmwar is the size of a crown, this event will feature a 3-meter diameter Giant Mwarmwar that will adorn the poolside. Visitors can enjoy taking pictures and gazing at it as a photo spot. Visitors are also encouraged to relax by the poolside while drinking tea extracted from butterfly peas, a brightly colored flower.

At "Gupot Kanton Tasi (Party by the Sea)," the Guam-local staff will entertain the guests with dances and games. During the "Gupot Kanton Tasi (Seaside Party)," the staff will be dressed in traditional Chamorro coconut-leaf skirts, marmalades and hairpieces made of tropical flowers, and other floral decorations to add color to the ceremony.

Mwarmwar making workshops will be held. Local artists will teach you directly, so even beginners can complete the work with ease. You can choose from either fresh or artificial flowers. You can also choose small items such as headpieces and earrings.

An activity will be held where you can enjoy decorating a cookie base shaped like a flower crown with colorful flowers. Choose colorful icing and sugar toppings, decorate to your liking, and you'll have cookies just like Marmer. You can eat the cookies you make on the spot or take them home to enjoy.
