Bengala Dyeing Workshop

Our popular "Bengala Dyeing Workshop," which was a hit last year, is back again this year. This is an event unique to the autumn of art, where you can discover the natural colors and textures of dye made from natural earth pigments called "bengala," held for three days from November 24th to 26th. This year, we have prepared content that both children and adults can enjoy.

Bengala Dyeing for Parents and Children

We've prepared a stamping experience that even children as young as zero can enjoy, allowing small children to participate with ease. You can also bring your own T-shirts, handkerchiefs, and other items to dye. In addition, we sell items for dyeing (sacoches, tote bags, drawstring pouches) at the atelier reception. This workshop allows you to discover natural colors and enjoy your own unique expression.

My one piece, adorned in the colors of the earth

Experience dyeing with Bengala dyeing artist, Yutaka Obuchi. Using "bengala," a natural dye born from the familiar earth and eventually returning to it, you can create colors with soft, deep hues that change with the seasons and light. By "wearing" these one-of-a-kind colors, you can connect with nature and create a piece that is truly "your own." It's a workshop where you can discover the colors of nature and enjoy your own unique expression. (No reservation required)

About the Artwork Exhibition

During and around the workshop period, artworks by the Bengala dyeing artist will be displayed in the gallery area.

Instructor: Yutaka Obuchi, from Yutaka na iro

In 2024, Yutaka Obuchi established the art studio "Yutaka na iro" in Kanan Town, Osaka Prefecture. He consistently handles the entire process, from collecting raw minerals to drying, crushing, creating dyes, dyeing, and designing. Through various activities, such as taking on dyeing commissions and holding workshops and exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, he conveys the beauty and charm of the Earth's colors. At RISONARE Osaka, he provides a rich palette of colors to the atelier through various methods, including dyeing the materials that children touch and creating installation exhibits in the gallery.
