"Atelier at Night" - Play with Light and Cultivate Your Senses
We will hold the "Atelier at Night" event to rediscover the wonder and beauty of light and expand children's creativity through free play. This event proposes a new space for creation that nurtures children's sensibilities, curiosity, and expressive abilities by leveraging the unique properties of "light" as a medium. This experience, which encourages children to express their own world without being bound by preconceived notions, will bring out their inner strength.
Various inquiry activities to discover the wonder of "light"
At the "Atelier at Night," our art experts, the "atelieristas," will create an environment for discovering diverse forms of expression using light. They have selected various combinations, such as "light × digital," "light × materials," and "light × drawing," to expand creative expression. Children will freely shape their own "feelings" as they encounter the wonder, beauty, and expressive potential of light.
Light × Digital
By projecting the camera's footage onto a screen and layering materials like lenses, acrylic plates, and blocks, children can build a new world from their own unique perspective.
In addition to the Wind Device, we have prepared paper materials that allow children to explore the wind. The types of paper that play various roles in daily life, including familiar drawing paper and traditional Japanese paper, come in a variety of shapes and textures. The movements that result from the slight differences in thickness and shape, such as fluidly riding on the wind or spinning back and forth, will inspire children's creativity.
Light × Materials
By changing the angle and layering of light, familiar materials reveal completely different appearances, leading to a deeper understanding of the profound nature of "seeing."
A special time and space that are usually off-limits.
The Atelier is typically open from 9:00 AM to 6:15 PM. During the day, the glass-walled space is filled with light, creating a bright and open atmosphere. For the "Atelier at Night," we intentionally dim the lighting to create an environment where children can focus more on light. The Atelier, which shows a completely different side from its daytime appearance, quietly stimulates children's "power of observation" and "power of feeling." The special feeling of doing activities at night will pique children's curiosity and be a memorable, extraordinary experience for them.
