HOSHINOYA's ninth facility is Japan's first prison hotel utilizing a National Important Cultural Property. The former Nara Prison, completed in 1908, was one of the five largest prisons in Japan, and was developed by the Meiji government with the aim of international standardization of prisons. This iconic red-brick building is a modern piece of architecture of great historical value and design excellence.
