Relax and rejuvenate in the tranquil winter beauty of the Arashiyama Gorge.

Oku-Arashiyama, the cherished spot where Heian-era nobles admired the beauty of the four seasons. In winter, wrapped in crisp air, the sounds of nature—the murmuring stream, the calls of animals, and the flapping wings of birds on the water—reverberate, and quiet time flows slowly. Please savor the delicate transition of the season from early to late winter.

December

At the beginning of the month, the vibrant autumn leaves, now at their peak color, dance in the wind, leaving a gorgeous trace of autumn. As a thin mist begins to rise from the river's surface in the early morning, the season advances daily toward the threshold of winter.

January

January marks the height of winter, the quietest time of the year. In the early morning, cold air descends from the mountains, and your breath lingers, long and white. The snow-covered mountains resemble an ink wash painting. A crisp, clear, and magnificent view unfolds.

February

The sun shining on the riverside gradually takes on a gentle softness, and as the plum blossoms in the alleyways begin to open, a faint sweet scent drifts through the mountain air. Within the warmth hidden beneath the cold, the footsteps of the next season can be felt even in the silence.
